Default cigarette socket not working

I have a 2005 crossfire coupe with 26000 miles and my cigarette lighter just stopped working. I have heard there is an inline fusible link. how do I remove and replace the socket and fusible link?

Does the glove box light work? If not change fuse number31 in the under hood fuse panel.

Is it the socket that's dead or the lighter itself?

Is there a video or description on how to remove and replace the lighter socket (I don't want to break parts).

1. remove the radio.
2. remove the 2 screws at the upper left and right in the radio opening.
3. lift the center panel at the top and slide down to release the hooks and remove the panel.
4. remove the shift lever cover.
5 you should now see 4 screws holding the ashtray/lighter assembly.

How does this differ for someone like me who has an aftermarket radio (Alpine) in his car
with a backing frame behind the face?

Same deal just by prying off the backing frame?

I got lucky - removed & reinstalled fuse 31 (to check it, and it was fine), and now my lighter/glove box light power returned on accessory and run key positions.

Pizzaguy has a Mod to let the glovebox light and lighter socket work all the time with no key. Works great.
