Intermittent Losses of Power, Car Shut off and Restarted Immediately
Hello all,
Over the past couple months I have felt a split second loss of power while cruising on the freeway. It also happened once while accelerating around 45 MPH. It is so short that I could not even get my eyes down to check the engine speed. It feels much like the traction control kicked in but much shorter and the traction control light doesn't come on.
Today the car died while I was driving in the parking lot, all the lights were lit on the dash. The car restarted immediately with no issues.
I changed the crank position sensor this past weekend with a brand new Bosch unit. Fuel pump and filter were both changed a year ago. Cam position sensor was changed about 3 years ago.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If there is a sudden loss of power, that could the the throttle position sensor, OTOH if it dies compltely I'd suspect either the ignition switch or the SCREEM or the RCS.
Thanks for your response. What is the RCS?
Suddenly dies completely, but restarts OK means an intermittent somewhere in the ignition or fuel injection.
I'd try sending the RCM ( K40 ) to tighed1 and include a note requesting he replace the fuel relay ( along with $25 ).
Other than that, if it is ignition related, then you seem to have covered the 2 CPS ( crank and cam ).
This leaves circuitry, ECM, SKREEM. ( no fun there at all ).
Could try cleaning the Crank sensor connector real good.
