Unhappy Weird Auto-stick issue

So my auto-stick hasn't worked for awhile now. I could never get anything to show up other than D but yesterday when I was driving yesterday I accidentally pulled the shifter to the ( - ) side and it went down to 3rd then to 1st with no in between. It didn't stay in gear though each time it went right back to D and wouldn't shift up. After turning the car off and back on now it doesn't do anything again. No check engine lights and when I had the car scanned (last week) nothing came up regarding transmission. I'm at a loss and was unable to find anything related online.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Also, if you have ever spilled your coffee/beverage into the shifter area, you could have a problem there. There are two circuit boards and a slider contact in there, that slider could be contaminated.

I'll take a look and see if that could be the issue. Other than it just not working and that one time yesterday randomly deciding it wanted to downshift I have had no other issues.

By George, you are a treasure trove of ideas! Those of us who dabble in the electronics side of things know that bad contacts/connections are 99% (+/-) of all electronics problems. This could be quite the new issue, never read about this one before.
