Trunk jammed 2005 convertible
MY trunk is jammed, i can hear the solenoid activating when i press the unlock button on the transmitter but the trunk won't unlock. I took off the license plate and see a torx screw, but haven't turned it yet. I have pushed and pulled on the trunk lid but still won't open. It looks impossible to get to the trunk thru the behind the from seat. How do i get this open without taking to to the Stealer?
thanks
thanks
THere are TWO locks on the trunk.
1) The pneumatic one that operates with the other locks in the car in response to the dash switch or the Key Fob.
2) The electric lock that operates only in response to your using the top raise/lower switch. (This is done to keep the trunk closed while you moving the top up or down.)
The solenoid for the electric lock tends to not always travel back to the fully "unlocked" position. That is, it move far enough that the sensor indicates good travel, but not far enough t actually allow the trunk to be opened. IF this is the case, you can always put the top up and then down once or twice and it will often eventually unlock. In this case, you BETTER do my mod to the lock so this does not happen again.
Try my VERY old thread on this very issue (the search feature is your best friend here):

IF the pneumatic lock has failed, you can read how to raise the lid and crawl in there and open the trunk with the emergency release.
or..............
Just grab a steel coathanger, straiten it out, and form a small j-hook in one end. THEN, remove the drivers' side license light assembly and fish the hanger in there and snag the emergency release cable - and pop the trunk open that way.

Keep in mind when reading that thread that I was learning as I go. SOME MATERIAL is INACCURATE, it would be worth it for you to read the whole thread -that way, you will learn the easy way what took me DAYS to figure out.
MAKE SURE YOU DO THE LOCK MOD in post 73.
Or, if that is too much trouble - go to any dealer or shop and pay them ANYTHING they charge to help you. Just don't complain that you were without your car for days and spent $600 on something you could fix yourself.
