Car starts then it dies
Father drove car out of the garage a few days ago...he got about 20 feet when the car starting vibrating and shut off...you can start it up again but it vibrates then turns off...the check engine light came on...we had the car towed to a mechanic who said the codes show that 2 pistons are misfiring...I want to have the care checked by a crossfire expert...hopefully somebody in Orange County California.
Any idea what it could be??

Sounds to me like a coil pack has, perhaps, failed. That, or an injector has failed OR you have crappy gas in there.
OR that you have low fuel pressure.
ANY competent car guy can get to the bottom of this. For what you are talking about, my local garage can handle it. BUT, it would not be a bad idea to find some garage that is known for Mercedes knowledge.
Waste of time at this point. You don't need a 'Crossfire expert', you need those damn codes.

The fact that it starts and runs momentarily eliminates a lot of things like the usual modules involved in starting, which leads us To what it probably is, air fuel and Spark, any one of those in the wrong amount or ratio will cause your symptoms, the actual code numbers would be most helpful.
With that said I agree with pizzaguy. We need ALL the facts in order to help you. 🤔
Yep that's what the original Op stated , also stated mechanic said trouble code indicated misfire on 2 cylinders.
This is the third instance that I can remember reading about the crossfire being backed out of the garage and starting to misfire and act up. Could this be the makings of a pattern? Improper storage? Condensation build up in the tank? Stale gasoline? I think more research is necessary. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned here, like if you're going to store your car for any length of time add stabilizer and fill your tank up with quality gasoline. 🤔

With no more info I could guess at a plugged exhaust system, but then it would be OK after a while and then repeat. I had ice up the tail pipe once and this happened, nothing kinky though.

You answered a question that I wanted the OP to answer, and then added unfounded guesses. I have started cars on twenty year old gas with no stabilizer in it, admittedly no corn juice in it. Condensation in the tank is highly improbable with the sealed systems these days.
