Default park/fog lights stay on when ign off

My battery was dead so I charged it up. Not sure why until I discovered that the park lights and fog lights will not turn off after the key is off. Had this car since 2006 and at 53K miles it seem all sorts of things are going wrong..HELP TIA

They stay on after the car has had its lights on and stay on for a predetermined time, they are controlled by the CLP/SSM module in the trunk on the passenger side well under the carpet. It is likely that there is water in the well that the pump sits in. The water damages the pump, usually beyond repair.

Slide a slip of stiff paper down between the foam and the steel body of the car on the passenger side to see if there is water down there.
They probably have been in the ON condition since you had the car lights on the last time.

Turn the headlights switch to the off position. They should stay on for a predetermined length of time like 180 said. If they never go off then you need to check the trunk passenger side under the carpet and black foam for water. The CLP/SSM is at the bottom(inside a white foam case) and can get damaged by water. There is a link here for that I placed it below.

Hope I helped

My fog lights are staying on in my 2005 Roadster. I lifted the carpet in the trunk and don't see a control module on the passenger side but I did find some water in the compartment that holds the tire sealant. Where should I look next?

Hello,
You need to remove that black formed Styrofoam on the passengers side. You will find a white Styrofoam like box with the CLP/SSM inside. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and follow the link below.

This has great illustrations.
Hope this helped. If you have more questions please ask.

park/fog lights stay on on the right side when I hooked up new battery. Flashers do not flash. left blinkers work fine. lights flash properly when I lock or unlock the car with the new key. Right blinker green indicator light on the dash is always on with the blinkers. I put in new bulbs no change. put in new flasher relay no change. Bone dry pump in trunk. Just had NeedsWings redo the electrical system which works great. Had the light issue prior to electrical fix. DESPERATER FOR HELP !!!! any ideas ??

If you have a multi-meter I would suggest using the service manual (available on this forum). I would start with the illumination control module/headlamp switch.
Section 8L(Pg 1067). Starts the troubleshooting for each of your lamp issues. I would check every fuse and connection on the illumination control module/headlamp switch to make sure there is not any corrosion.
Pg 3917 is a good illustration on how to remove/access the illumination control/headlamp switch.
I hope this helped. If you have further questions please ask.
I placed a link from ebay for another switch.

Hi doc thanks for the link. Up date: When I connect the battery, with the key off the right side blinkers come on and stay on along with the Green arrow light in the dash but nothing blinks. When I turn on the car ignition and apply the left blinker they turn on and blink like normal but do not make any clicking sound. If I turn on the right blinker nothing happens the lights just stay lit. If I push in the hazard button all hazard lights come on but they do not blink and there is no clicking sound. Does any one know where the hazard lights relay, or contactor is ?

I think it is in the three button module that the the emergency button is on. That’s if memory serves me correctly, at my age you never can be sure.🤔
