Default Is it ok to remove the alarm from the car?

Hi everyone, I need some technical assistance. I removed the wiper arms and plastic cowl cover to ensure that the drains were clear and to install the missing wiper isolator on the driver's side wiper. While inside the cowl I decided to remove the alarm, cut it open, and replace the batteries. After cutting the alarm open I found that the circuit board was badly burned. Caused by leaking batteries. Is it ok to remove the alarm and not install a working alarm? I really don't care if there is an alarm on my car. The key fob, door locks, and flashing lights seem to work the same. I can't see any reason to spend money for an item that I don't think I need. Please let me know if the alarm must be installed. Since my circuit board is burned to a crisp, I can't see how an alarm must be installed. I respect the members of this forum and wait for your comments. Thanks.

Yes you can remove the module, just be sure to wrap the connector in electrical tape to keep moisture out of the wiring. Good luck!

You can find these on eBay for a good price at times it’s a MB part of course & new ones give you a chirp when locking or unlocking .

Hi Ed,
I need to replace my alarm and was wondering if you know the part number? Also, what seems to be a good price? Thanks!

Replaced the alarm today with a new one A 219 820 32 26. If you plan to do this, have a metric nut available to complete the job.
The new alarm has a mounting stud, not a mounting hole. Just a heads up. See pic.

James,
Where did you get it? Does it chirp when you lock and unlock the doors?
Thanks
