Default transmission when cold

My Transmission shifts real hard enough to jerk you in your seat but only when it is cold in the winter. I have had it to two independent shops and both said a fluid flush would help. any ideas of what this might be as it seems like something is going to brake soon.

I have heard far too many transmission flush horror stories. Proceed at your own transmission's risk!

I would start with the "old school" change fluid and filter. Obviously the fluid is at the correct level?

I would feel confident with a transmission filter change and complete flush from a Mercedes dealership. If you do not have the pressurized equipment and knowledge to DIY then it is wise to spend the money to have it done correctly. Our transmissions are an old and well understood item in the Mercedes stable; Getting the work accomplish there might be your best move. Cost is about $300 including the filter and fluid.

It has been flushed and the levels have been checked since. Still shifts hard enough to jerk you around hard.

I have a srt-6 as well and mine does the same thing when cold until it is warmed up. I remember reading on here a few years ago that it was normal. Mine only does it on like 1-2 shift oddly enough. The other shift points are fine even when cold.

I will say my trans has over 200k now. I havent worried about it about it.

Thanks for the replies. My concern is that if taking off slow it will shift so hard that it just jerks you back and forth like a stick shift transmission

Try running the Trans in "W" mode. I believe it starts out in 2nd instead of 1st.
