I have a 2204 Crossfire and I can't get any answers from my mechanic regarding the following issues:
Fans keep running after it is turned off. Did unhook the battery so it wouldn't keep running. Then it cleared up later.
Tech could not duplicate the fans continual running once turned off. Test drove vehicle and temp appears ok. Cannot communicate with PCI, which is on of the symptoms of the control module. TPMS light on.
Can not program sensors at this time due to communication error with PCI. Tech attempted to scan, unable to communicate with PCM in vehicle. Tech also connected junction box and still unable to communicate.Tech indicated no communication and the fans not turning off is a predominate symptom of the relay control module. Unable to repair at this time.
Can anyone assist with this issue? would appreciate any feedback.

Sounds like the RCM.

 

WHich fan? Climate control fan running all the time is almost always a bad "Fan Resistor", easy to change.

Engine cooling fan running with key off? This can be a stuck relay on the RCM or a bad Fan Control Module.

 

All this talk about how the tech can't communicate with the ECM makes me think you are going to the wrong place for service.

 

Fans? Which fans?
TPMS? What sensors?
A bit more detail in the description would be nice.

Where does the RCM come into the equation re fans?

 

Thanks for the information. Its the engine cooling fan. With the engine running the fan is not moving. Do you thank its the fan control module and where is it located..
Also where can I find a Hood gas piston. Thank you for your help.

You are not making sense. You say the engine fan does not run when the engine is running, but it starts running once you turn the engine off? That makes no sense. But we ARE dealing with German automotive electronics, so anything is possible.

1) If pin 6 of the fan module goes to zero volts with the key off, then the fan module is bad.
2) If pin 6 does not go to zero volts, that is, stays at ten or more volts, yank the connector from the fan module. If the WIRE in pin 6 is still at 12 volts, the car is telling the fan to run. If the WIRE is at zero, (with the connector unplugged) then the fan module is bad.

That is it, DO NOT make this any more complicated than my last two lines - if you do, your only choice is to take the car to a dealer, leave them a blank check, and hope they fix it (they won't, but they will charge you a LOT).

Where is the Fan MOdule?
Follow the wires from the fan motor to the Fan Module on the fender. There are four BIG wires, and two SMALL wires. The little Gray wire is communications with the ECM (make no attempt to measure what is on that wire, if you do try to measure it, please tell me you did so I know enough to NEVER help you again). The Pink/Red wire is an ignition power feed to the module, it MUST go to zero volts with the key off or the fan WILL run, this wire's voltage is the clue to tell you where the problem is.
