Default Check engine light and code readers

On my way around atlanta driving down here for work last week, merging to 285 from 85, I was merging over and a semi was merging with me, late at night, and I ended up hitting a gator (semi tire retread)

Been fighting with insurance.
shops around lagrange GA are either closed due to covid 19 or will not take my car, and i got my insurance to let me fix some problems so i can drive it back and take it to a local shop.

Of course there is front end damage and some other problems.

but biggest problem why I would not drive it was due to both rear O2 sensors ripped the wires and plug from the drivers side and passengers side the plug was on the O2 sensor but wiring harness plug was gone .

I have spare O2 sensors with me, but with plugs gone there is not much point in trying to get O2 sensors out in a hotel parking lot, so I spliced and rewired both O2 sensors back in.
cleared the codes and took for a drive, watching on torque the voltage looks like the sensors are working and that is fine.

My question is
My check engine light is still on, but if is not reading any codes. After test drive, even though the light is on.

I know it should have a code on the throttle position sensor, I have another pedal assembly ready to put in to clear that.

Has this happened to others before ?

I wanted to double check and see if something else came up or if I got a wire wrong.

But it does not show a code but the check engine light is on.

Hell if i know why.

She ran good on my test drive for 192,341 miles

I have a normally 9 hr drive home tomorrow, but going to take longer, and leaving in the morning and taking my time.

I guess what, insurance found me a bumper, fog lights lower grills.

I still have the fog light, lower grilles and bumper can be repaired, so i going to keep them for a just in case.

This has been by far the worst 2 weeks of my life with everything going on.

With several life altering changes happening.

The only good news is they are not totaling out my baby, and are going to fix it.

The tire even dented my magna flow muffler...

Now the insurance just called me and told me they are totaling out my baby, and they are giving me $710.43
that number really made me mad.

Country financial, been with them for over 15 years, we have always heard good things about their claims from others.
but not us.

Oooo, I am not letting them take my baby, and not going to part it out.

My wheels and tires are worth more than their offer.
My aftermarket 18x8.5 and 19x10.5 and I just put a new pair of michelins on the back not long ago.

$1,000 for wheels, and normal price of my michelins $346 apiece.
and I have no scratches or Mark's on my wheels.

I am fighting with them, the $710 was minus $500 to keep my car so $1,210.43

Well actually less + $132.43 for taxes and + $175 title, license and registration fees.
which I need to check but that should be to low for Illinois

So they say $903 then minus $500 to keep.

I went on autotrader and other sites and took screen shots of several high milage crossfires 04 - 05 crossfires that the dealers are asking $6,000 - $9,000.

And a bigger mess with the covid and this happened 9 hours away from my house in Georgia.

Well of course, they are not taking my baby.
what I have been saying I am taking it no matter what.

and I have lots of places to to store at my house.
Another good thing of living in the country with no visible neighbors.

The plan was to drive for acouple more years then get a C7.

But now have to go a different route, looking at 4 door canyons.

Ask them where they got that value. I haven't even seen them at auction for that price.

Speedy for $700 it may not be worth the aggravation fighting with insurance company and then you may have a car with a salvage title. You may want to skip the claim entirely and just fix the car yourself. The title thus stays in your name and you do not have to carry comprehensive. If you want the car insured go with Hagerty; There you set the value and the annual rates are very reasonable.

It must be quite cramped living in an ATM. You should be OK with the cash flow though.

Still fighting with insurance.
when I talked with the claims agent the $700 was actually if they took my car and $124 if I kept it, needless to say I lost my cool for a few.

I have been working on with them, after I got ahold of a different claims agent that is willing to work with me, at 2k keeping my baby so far, I sent him compares and lost of upgrades done with screenshots and pics of receipts of uogrades done, since I did everything myself labor would not be included .

I am looking for atm
2015 - 16 gmc canyon SLT, crew cab 4x4, v6, not in black or white exterior and not black interior, unless I get silver exterior, then i want black interior, like my crossfire , 6' bed not 5'.
lots of aftermarket support, and I think I like the 6 speed better than the 17 and newer 8 speed trans.

Then later on I can work on fixing my baby.

I found out, in illinois since the car is over 9 years old, they don't put as a salvage title, the title stays original, sonthat is a plus

Another strange IL law when it comes to totaled cars. My 8 year old escape (low miles) was totaled. A friend had one with over 200,000 miles on it. He wanted it for the seats, engine and tranny. When I inquired I was told in Illinois a totaled car can not be purchased back until it is 10 years old. Sounds like two groups paid of the politicians Salvage yards to monopolize parts on newer cars. Used car dealers to avoid having salvage titles on older cars that have been rebuilt.
Works out good for your situation. Hope you get her back on the road.

Country Financial? I had them when my Graphite was wrecked in 2015 with 116,000 miles.
Their first offer was $10,700 and I TOOK IT.

What has happened to CF?

Insurance companies BS everyone if they can, just remember it is your car until you sign it away no matter what they say.
