Alternators (Subtitle: I hate Valeo)
Ok, my 2007 SE was equipped with a Valeo alternator. Today, on the first day I try to take it for a ride this year, I find the alternator has failed. This will be the third failed alternator in six years.
So, I am blaming the fact that it has a Valeo for this. My other Crossfires went a total of more than 140,000 miles with no alternator failures. This car has 56,000 on it and I can't keep them over 20,000 miles.
HERE is my question: Of those of you who know (and I realize very few of us will) is the physical mounting any different between the two? I know there are electric wire/cable differences - I can make the needed adjustments there, but if the physical mounting is different, then I gotta stick with Valeo. They didn't actually change anything (other than wire connectors/lengths) when fitting a Valeo versus Bosch on there, did they?

Of course, Red Dog pointed out to me that NAPA warranties them for life. I know I did not pay for the second one, they covered it. Maybe, since it's free, if I can dig up my receipt, I'll just let them send me another one.
Valeo and Bosch are in competition with one another and make parts that match each other, so there is no need to change the wiring. There are completely interchangeable parts for the Crossfires in both lines.
I almost always like your answers, Dave. I really thought this was the way it is, but wanted to be sure.
In any event, I'm calling NAPA to see if they will honor their warranty, if so, I'll take the Valeo if they insist, but I will ask for a Bosch.
G'night
