Alternator Help
I'm currently trying to replace my alternator in my 04 nonsrt. It's hooked up to connectors but can't get it to bolt in. It won't fit in between the holes. To get the old one out I had to use a wrench as leverage. Are there any tricks?
Kind of wonder if you got the right one, I mean physically the right one. Amperage rating has to be right, but the PHYSICAL configuration has to be right too.
Sounds like it isn't the same as the old one.

I have yet to remove the alt from a Crossfire so this is all a guess. On a lot of cars, the mounting bracket uses a bushing to keep the alt tight in place so the case doesn't get crushed or cracked when tightening.
With the alternator off, you can get a small hammer and punch in there and knock it back a tic or two to allow the alternator to fall in place.

As indicated in the above post the gap that the alternator fits in is adjustable and the bolt pulls the back clamping nut toward the front of the car and maintains the pulley in alignment with the belt. The distance between the front and rear faces on the mounting shoulder can be different and the clamping distance is automatically adjusted by this design. The rear post does not move just the part sliding inside it.

Seems like that will work but I can't seem to get a hammer or punch down there. Has anyone actually done this themselves? The thing is really in there and it seems like it would take a lot to move it.

Your problem is on the water pump. There is a floating shim that needs to be adjusted out with a socket and c clamp. Kinda like pressing the pistons on your brake calipers back in when changing pads.
I have a good alternator(38k) I would have shipped to you for $105.

Put a bit of penetrating oil on that round bushing in Chucks photo and pull it forward.
Chucks suggested method.
