Indicators not working
Hello all,
My left and right indicators do not work when I switch to indicate. The lights actually work as when I press the red hazard switch all 4 lights flash on and off.
Is there a relay / solenoid for the indicators or is the switch on the stalk ?
Thanks for your advice

I think you have a bad "multifunction switch". If you can figure out the turn/hazard signal wiring, you are doing better than I am. Look at the wiring diagrams in the service manual, how would YOU figure out where the issue is? I can't find the damn flasher, I think it's a function of the BCM but Im' unsure.
You can gamble and just change the multifunction switch - seems to work for most of us.

Thanks Pizzaguy,
It was a fuse ? The fuse was intact but by reseating the fuse it now works, prior to this the car had not been driven for a month so just a poor connection at the fuse.
Thanks for your help

There are pictures of it on the web and it looks like the seat relay. It is not mentioned in any of my parts books, show in the Service Manual or in the booklet that shows where all the electrical items are located.
A total mystery to me, I remember Rudy fixing Tony’s flasher by straightening the contacts in his fuse panel in the car park of the hotel on a Woodward trip. I shall keep looking for this solenoid on the car though, getting under the dash is tough for me so maybe I will let someone else do it.🙂

Hello Guys,
Well the problem is back with the indicator / multiswitch not working again , so it looks like I will have to get a new switch.
I saw on a " how to replace the turn / indicator switch " instructions on this site it mentioned the Mercedes R170 SLK part number as 170 540 01 44 but also another number 170 540 03 44 on the same thread.
Can someone please tell me which is the correct part number please ?
Thanks again.

Yes that is what I am seeing on a parts catalogue for the European SLK320 to confirm I would go to a Mercedes dealer website in the UK or call one. Select 2004 SLK320 and put in that part number and see if it matches or what comes up.
Hello,
I intend to replace the multi function indicator / turn switch.
I saw earlier on here that someone very kindly posted a how to replace the switch but I cannot seem to find that link.
Would someone please post that link again ? As I am having trouble removing the lower plastic part of the dashboard inorder to get to the plug and socket.
Regards
Tony
