My Daughter has my crossfire out on loan while she is attending the University of Tampa. She called me up yesterday to say the car was making noises while turning right and she send me these pics. She said it happened right after she drove (probably speeded) through a large puddle. It looks to me like the inner fender liner has bulged out from water pressure. Anyone had this happen before? Any easy way she can fix it? She is very capable but does have limited tools available to her there. Alternatively, Anyone know a trusted place she can go for help in Tampa?
TIA,
John
jig, that tire looks really close to the fender liner. I hope she didn't hit something that moved the suspension to the rear. That fender liner wraps all the way around the fender well and can be removed only when the rim and tire are off the car. You will notice that the rocker panel is also bent down near the lifting pad. You may be able to get the liner to fit again properly, but you will need to remove the rim and tire, loosen all the screws holding it and the rocker panel in place near the front (there are two in your photo) and probably the front lifting pad as well to try and get that liner back in it's proper place. Good Luck! Does the car steer straight?
Not for me to say, you can get another Crossfire. Gift this one to her and let her take care of it (as a life lesson). She can come into the forum (join) and find out about our obsession and our permagrins, then she'll either take it upon herself to have it repaired, or not. Been here, done that. be prepared to help, right?
