Question Should there be a cover over the fan, under the windshield cowling (passenger side)?

It is such a giant opening. No wonder water is getting in to passenger floor. I read somewhere that someone fashioned a plexiglass cover with some air holes and somehow fastened it over the hole.

Also, there is like a little rubber dam with a moving flap that allows water to flow into the passenger side cowl drain. I am wondering if that part should be removed to aid water getting into the drain.

BTW, I successfully unplugged the cowl drain that has been plugged up. Had to remove rocker panel and attacked from opposite end.

Thanks Again, Jim!

My mechanic modified that flap because water would not drain fast enough and got backed up. Our Crossfire is kept indoors except when we are driving or if it is at the mechanic so I can’t say whether this solved the water issue. When the mechanic last had our car to replace the fuel pump it sat outside for several days and got water on the passenger side floor and inside the passenger door. Drain tubes under the windshield Cowell were clear of debris.

There are four drain holes under the cowl for water to drain out of that area. I have had my Crossfire for over ten years, inspect the drain holes when ever I'm under the cowl ( which isn't all that often, but I know all four drain clearly) and have NEVER had a problem with water entering my car through the A/C intake. You should check the drain holes in the center and the other at the drivers side. If the drains are all working you shouldn't have water entering through the A/C intake.
