I just recently bought a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire - it needs some TLC. Can anyone help me locate a few parts?

- Fuel gauge indicator not working. I believe it's a sensor? If yes, what is it called and where can I purchase?

- Steering column ignition bezel. I believe this is what it's called. It's the ring around the area where you insert the key. It is loose and I believe it is broken. Can someone please confirm the part name and where I can find a replacement?

ANY help would be appreciated!

 

your fuel gage COULD be the rcm (Mercedes k40) replace that first as for the ring it has two wires behind it one may be disconnected it is programed to the key fob ,,call Rob at Needswings,com he has the fix.

How does the RCM have any affect on the fuel gauge? The fuel level sensor is in the fuel tank, I guess a fuse is in the circuit as well.
He says the ring is loose and says nothing about the wires, presumably the car starts or he would have said so.
He would be better of looking at the Service Manual, for which a PDF can be found in the Documentation Collection.
It can be found in the TSBs and How To section. He can download and save it for future reference.

 

A fuel PUMP that wont run or does not run right is usually the RCM, a fuel GAUGE that wont' work right is almost always the sending unit in the tank. (Altho I've had issues with the connector at the top of the tank in Roadsters, as water can get in there, not so much with Coupes, and being an 04, the person here is talking about a coupe.)

 

It doesn't. The fuel gauge is driven off the ignition feed from the switch itself, not via the RCM.

 

That was my point, too many answers here are not based on fact and the suggested solutions lead to the spending of hard earned wages on something that does not solve the problem. It's pretty painless to spend someone else’s money.

Likewise the question on the halo ring, it is loose so why buy another before the cause is researched.

Many answers on this forum are really no more than adverts for the services of some members. Is that idleness or the search for brownie points? I do not think I have ever suggested people spend money on the hope that it will solve the problem, the dealers do that and it gets expensive.

One members consistent answer to many questions was to do a throttle reset, I have only done one throttle reset and that was some 15 years ago just to see what the result was, not much if I recall.
