Trouble finding anyone to work on 2005 Crossfire
My 2005 Crossfire roadster will not start. This problem started occurring after my spoiler would not completely go down. RCM module has been checked along with several other electrical items on the car. Also bought new battery.
I live in Western KY area. Two foreign cars repairs place in my area won’t even look at the car due to it being an electrical issue. Every place I’ve called say it will need diagnostic software for this car. Having problems finding that even even Nashville area. Please advise

ALSO, what do you mean the RCM has been checked? Does it crank or no crank. Spoiler normally means weak battery or weak battery connections.
THE RCM module was removed and all solder points checked. The car will not crank with a new battery at full charge. A neighbor with a diagnostic code reader/scan tool tried to checked several things on the car. Even putting Mercedes model in his scanner did not provide any codes that panned out.
There are two fail points with the RCM, the solder joints and the relays themselves. Have you replaced the crank position sensor? This is a common fail point also. Neither of these fail points give codes. How many miles on the car and how long have you owned it?

Good question- I will ask the guy who spent several hours troubleshooting about the relays and no- that has not been replaced. I am hoping to find an independent mechanic in the Nashville area who will try to diagnose it- that is 2 hours from where I am- I will have to have it towed.

Oh- there are 81,000 miles on it and I’ve owned it since 2016 without any issues at all until recently- and then that started with the spoiler issue. Red light flashing on spoiler button inside car and it will not lower it when it was running.
Have you disconnected the battery for a couple minutes and then re-connected it ?
If ya do this it might crank over and if it does and wont start it will likely shortly crank 2 or 3 times and then not at all

Yes- we disconnected battery a few different stations times for 10-15 minutes at a time. The car will crank, but will not start when cranked.

If it cranks over the next two things to check, crank position sensor and fuel pressure. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when the key is fisrt turned on? Can you borrow a fuel pressure gauge to check fuel pressure? The relay for the fuel pump is on the RCM. Good luck. James

I have an interesting question/point? IF the fuel rail is already pressurized, will the fuel pump run after turning it off and on repeatedly trying to start it initially? I've not heard it after shutting it down and restarting it during the day (and BTW, how much does it self-bleed the line pressure). In another instance, my 02 Camaro will ONLY run the pump when starting (or attempting to if no fuel pump issue) the first time. After that (within a certain amount of time) it will not run to pressurize until the set minimum pressure switch runs it again. Always wanted to ask this question, as I do not remember the pump on my crossfire (after the initial first start) running for the rest of the 'trip' that didn't involve a long delay in returning to the car (shopping, and the like). If this is the case, then trying to 'hear' the fuel pump running after a first attempt (when the system is pressurized and not starting due to a lack of fuel pressure) is kind of 'moot', or am I missing something?

That is a really interesting question. I think in all my cars the fuel pumps seem to kick in automatically for a few seconds when the key hits the on position before going to the start position. I figured it is because all systems are coming on-line at the same time so as soon as the key hits the on position on the way to the start position the fuel pump kicks in and the pressure monitor that tells it to turn on/off is also coming on-line at the same time. I guess I've never tried shutting down and then immediately turning the key back to the on position to see if the pump comes back on right away again or not. There has to be back-bleed and loss of pressure after a certain amount of time as there is no 1-way valve that opens and closes to maintain pressure in the fuel system after a shut down that I know of... It must lose pressure at some rate as the system de-pressurizes. Pressurizing a liquid is virtually instantaneous unlike air. I can't imagine any fuel system that is pressurizing liquid gasoline can hold it for long... We're talking about a few milliliters of gasoline getting pushed into the fuel system that develops functional rail pressure. I mean, take a sealed gallon of water and try to squish it... Ya can't.

Open the RCM.
Reinstall.
Turn the key to the ON position.
2 of the 3 middle relays should remain closed. (fuel relay will close for 2 seconds then reopen once key is first turned to ON)
Suspect that your traction relay is bad with the spoiler and no start symptoms. I can refurbish your RCM, replacing the relays, redoing bad solder joints AND adding the Me So Horny mod. Email tighed1@hotmail.com for the details.
Reinstall.
