My ignition key switch works fine, but will not turn off accessories when turned all the way left. The dash is still active even the radio sometimes. I read a bunch on here but still not sure. You are my first stop every time! Help?

 

This has come up before, we even have seen cars that their engine keeps running! First thing to ask you is this: Does this car have an aftermarket remote start or keyless entry accessory added?

 

Thank you for your help. There is nothing after market on the ignition or anywhere. It drains the battery in 24 hrs or so. I’m using a trickle charger right now. 👍

 

Have you trid spraying graphite inside the switch? Maybe something inside is stuck?

Something Id' do, (this cant be it but its just too easy to NOT try it), is to unplug the RCM and see of that does it. If so, order a new RCM.

Take off cover, pull out RCM, unplug all connectors (DO NOT PULL ON WIRES). See if that does it.

Slide tabs forward, remove cover.




Press the brass spring aside, lift up RCM and rock the connectors back and forth, unplugging each one.

 

Thank you. I replaced the RCM last month after being stranded. I also had my RCM repaired by Forum member as spare.
I just tried cleaning ignition inside with some aerosol Dry Lube from Lowes ($6). I sprayed it in and let it sit. I then inserted the key and worked it 6-7 times… and repeated. It may be fixed? The dash data now goes off 45 sec after removing key. Before it stayed on forever. I will go through it again and see what happens. I am optimistic! Many thanks to pizzaguy and zeracer for their insight! 👍👍
