Troubleshooting & Technical Questions & ModificationsHave technical or modification questions about the Crossfire?
Find out the answer, or give advice in here!
Yeah I have always known that, unfortunately I don't know anyone with a 2004 or so SLK320 to get a VIN off of, and my closest Mercedes dealer was not helpful. I suppose I could maybe try to find a VIN decoder for the SLK and create a fictitious one to match the XF. Or be a stalker and follow an SLK around until he stops...
Search 2001 - 2003 SLK for sale. They always post the VIN in the listing. Find one closest to your car and copy that VIN.
That's how I get my parts from the local dealer, and the guy knows I own a Crossfire! LOL
I finally got my last parts today, and am about to put it back together. Another question - what is this black plastic connector in the vacuum line off of the EGR valve, and what does it get connected to? I see nothing, and can't find a picture of it in the service manual, and I don't remember disconnecting it from anything. Does it just hang there by the intake manifold? That doesn't makes sense to me...

I think it's supposed to have a little piece of foam for venting as a rule.
Someone else may have a better answer.
So that sounds like it does just hang there, if it is a vent. Thanks for the info! I went online, and found replacement EGR valves from 2 different sources with pictures of that part attached, but neither had foam, so I don't feel so bad now. Back to putting it together this morning. My wife interrupted me yesterday...
Hi, here's the VIN number off a 2003 SLK320 WDBKK65F43F284638, and here's one off a 2001 SLK320 WDBKK65F51F195934. I got them off the pick a part website - when they post pictures of the cars, they also post the VIN numbers.
Hope that helps.
