Default Engine sound

Recently discovered a strange sound, see video, is there anyone who is familiar with this "problem"?

Greetings Christiaan from the Netherlands

OUCH, that sounds expensive. Sure hope it isn't. Only 'guess' I have, is there something laying against the serpentine belt (or the alternator area)? Hope you find it.

remove the serpentine belt and turn all the pulleys by hand; inspect the belt

Sounds like a bicycle with a baseball card on the spokes, for those of us old enough.

As zip439 said pull the belt off and rotate all of them.
My guess would be the bearing in the "idler" pulley (the small pulley on the top of the engine) is going bad.
They are inexpensive and easy to replace.

Thumbs up Re: Engine sound

Thanks for your responses, I just ordered a new alternator. Locating the sound with a screwdriver to my ear brought me to the dynamo. All other bearings of the various pulleys are okay.
Greetings from Holland

As a simple test spray some WD40 or an equivalent on the belt while running the engine. If as you indicate all the pulleys are okay and the sound disappears it is your belt that needs replacing.

the belt is not even 4 months old, I'm guessing the bearings of the alternator. But thanks for thinking along.
