Default Upper hood lift support bolt replacement

First time post. Please relocate if appropriate. My 2005 has 147K on it and is showing wear. The upper mounting bolt for the hood lift assist cylinder (proper name?) rusted away to where the spring clip just fell off. Before I get inventive on a fix I would ask if anyone has run into this and has a good fix or parts source for the bolt. I spent a long time online searching to no avail. Just too specialized I guess. The support cylinder is fine, so is the lower mount.
Thanks in advance

FYI fixed:
sticky key
RCM
alarm module
TPS wire disconnect

A picture would help. Then we can see what the actual problem is. Someone has probably fixed one before.

Thanks but that's a bit too pricy for a simple repair. If I were doing an all original resto -, I would consider it. Here are pics as requested. Having never posted before I reduced size and hopefully didn't screw it up.

I found this on ebay: Hood ball pin
It's part # 80 in the diagram.

Mercedes shows it as: Hood ball pin
Hopefully this is what you're looking for.

Fixed, sort of.
Removed the bolt (M8x1.25) ground the end clean and flat, center punched, drilled #21 bit, tapped 10-32, and what the British would call a "bodge" told myself it should hold up for a few years. Ugly but it works. Thanks for all who chimed in with help.

Thanks to mod for moving to appropriate section.

Nicw TEMP fix. A member posted one on fleabay for sale for less than 5 bucks for the part with 9 bucks shipping. If it was me, I would buy the OEM pin. Good luck with your fix!

The ball end stud is easy to find but fits the lower end. the upper is different. Thanks for trying! Seems like I have a whole staff of parts researchers here.
