Default most common mods-sticky?

I was just called a newbie for asking a question on a subject which i couldn't find on this forum. Maybe we could make it easier for everybody here and make a sticky with most common mods/aftermarket parts.

Most forums; from benzes to subaru have such thing, why not us?

possible topics:
-hid conversion (options)
-suspension
-wheels
-exhaust mods
-interior mods
-safety

what do you guys think?

pete

...safety?

Regarding mods, I have discovered that this car does not enjoy the same level of aftermarket support that others do. I used to own a Mazda, which was lowered, had a header on it, intake, pulley, aftermarket exhaust, sticky tires on upsized wheels, and lots of Mazdaspeed trim that I brought back with me from trips to Japan. More details at http://www.mazda3club.com/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=7563

I have not really "torn in" to my Crossfire yet, but I will say that it is going to take some creativity to go forward with the car (if I decide to). There are limited choices for exhaust, etc. And, things tend to be expensive compared with the parts made for Japanese stuff. That said, some people like HDDP seem really to have done quite a lot within these confines, so trust that it can be done!

well i just search whole technical forum, took me 3 hours and i added 3 threads to my favs...

basically we know what people are looking for:

hid conversion and led tails
suspension options
engine /chip tuning
exhaust options/full exhaust magna etc

i guess im just trying to make it easy for everyone, it saves everyone time, cause we don't see repost all the time.

I wish more companies made MODS! Competition drives down prices. Finding MODs isn't easy and the prices are a bit high for the most part!

I think the newbie EVO is just looking for a hand-out, the easy laundry list of performance upgrades handed to him on a silver platter without doing any research. Kinda like a spoiled kid asking for his allowance then throwing a tantrum because he didn't do his chores to deserve it...

I would guess that every performance product available for the car is listed and discussed on this forum... I don't mind helping people out, but only those who are respectful... You should see his comment in another thread, stating that he had to wade through GARBAGE, including my gallery, to get a little information...

With an attitude like that, let him do his own research like we have for the past few years... I'm putting him on my IGNORE list...

I suppose some sort of FAQ would be a possibility save some effort, but like HDDP said people can be too lazy. The whole mod thing is made so easy for people - bit like a game - buy a mod, bolt it on or get someone to bolt it on, never have to think, work out a problem, if it doesn't work complain.

In the end you will be able to buy the car with the mods fitted at the dealer, opps already happens in Japan!

My Crossfire is a stock daily driver and will probably stay like that for quite a while, my project is a 30 year old Toyota Land Cruiser, not many mods on the shelf for that here in the UK.

I remember a thread a while back that someone started that had lists to vendor sites, etc. for all the different mods. I know I have personally given people the same link over and over again.

I think the sticky isn't a bad idea as long as someone updates it and keeps in the info current then we can stop 10 people a day from asking the same questions (or maybe they will still ask anyway, which is why it isn't up there now)!

Bravo... It took me nearly a year just to find affordable wheels for the car after a relentless search... I don't envy your restoration of the Land Cruiser... But I bet it will be heart-felt when completed...

My brother's friend had an old Land Cruiser, the FJ40 type. It was ugly as sin, with a rattle can paint job and lots of off road war wounds from the rocky terrain near Durango, CO (where my brother went to college). The Land Cruiser had a 350 Chevy V8 fitted (not a hard thing to do with the proper conversion I hear, as the Toyota inline six was nearly bolt-for-bolt a copy of a Chevrolet inline six). I rode in it just once during a visit. It was downright scary when the secondaries opened up, as the truck was lifted on large tires, and its owner alluded to having rolled it more than once. It wallowed like a boat in a sea swell to the glorious tune of a very American sounding engine underhood. When the road got the better of it, repair was done simply with more spray paint and I assume a blunt, heavy object when necessary.

What a cool project, though. All the appeal of an old Land Rover or Jeep, with a distinctly Japanese flair. This is a vehicle from when the Japanese were not yet world class car makers, let alone masters of succeeding in export markets. This, of course, leads to all kinds of charm. I distinctly remember the glove box being labeled with the word "pocket". Must have seemed normal to Toyota at the time.

We did start a thread about a year ago... Unfortunately... I didn't keep it up to date either... And now we have a few more vendors with other parts... I think I asked everyone to post parts & part #'s...

Ah well... I'll go find it and post it again...
