door pull handles on interior
Can someone who has had their inner door pull handles replaced under warranty(the ones that cut your hand at the seem) go out and feel the very back side for me. I have the new handle units and im wanting to verify the new one DO ALSO have a very tiny seem in the same place.
Im not sure if they actually have new versions or if these are the same ones destined to peel like the originals?
Thanks.

Ours is currentily in the shop now having both handle replaced along with a Check Engine warning light under warranty. It was a Code P2096 and P2098 in which is giving them a learning curve.

Can anyone else confirm the new ones have this "tiny" seam, to a lesser extent than the original but still there in the same exact place?

Just last week were replaced.
Mine are nice and smooth to the touch. But I looked at them with a mirror-on-a-stick and can see a fine line on the 1st and last 3/4", front and back, toward the ends.

For the record my replacement pull handles have a seam that is far less noticeable but still just barely there. I replaced both sides myself. The hardest part is removing the pull handles from the back of the door panel once its removed. Use a pick or a tiny screwdriver to lift up the tabs while pulling and slightly twisting the pull handle from the front as needed. The next hardest part is removing the trim piece on the inside of the rear view mirror, and removing the bezel around the door handle without breaking them. Use a tiny screwdriver or the recommended plastic trim stick tool. Even though i used the plastic trim stick i broke one tab on the bezel. Good thing it went right back on and didnt really matter. You cant tell at all since there are like 8 tabs total(more than enough). I also broke the single mounting tab/clip on the small plastic triangular piece just inside the mirror. Looking back the best thing to do IMO would be go from the top with needle nose pliers so you can apply evenly distributed force on both sides of the plastic clip which is molded to the back of the piece. If you break it off you will have to buy another one. Luckily they are cheap.
HTH anyone who is a DIY.
I bought a 1" wide adhesive backed strip of black closed cell rubber foam (1/8" thick) and stuck it across the back of both door pulls. It feels comfortable when pulling on the door to close it and hasn't come off during the summer months.
I have used a 3/4" wide strip of black electrical tape to cover the seam on the back of the door pull. The tape is more comfortable then the seam on the existing door pull.

What I did was use a small piece of wet/dry sandpaper (dry) and just sanding litely o along the length, on the back of the handle. My handle was just starting to peel, so it worked great. If the peeling is extensive, I'm not sure it will come out as nice. The handle is plastic and the chrome coating is very thin. This isn't a permanent fix, but should last for months. If needed, just do it again. Just saying ......

Here is a great solution from another thread. These can be ordered with different stitching color.
