Unhappy Re: Replacing Cupholder with Storage Bin / HOW TO

Hi all,
Different problem with cup holder. Mine has worked fine but the last time it got used, it stayed flipped up and won't budge.
With all of you who have replaced it with the storage container, who can tell me how the spring was set up?
I'm thinking I should be able to slip a slim jim type of wire down with a bend in it and move the spring.
Any thought?

Thanks,

Somebody here may have taken one apart. I removed mine and replaced it with a bin--the cupholder is in its own little box and I can't see what makes it work unless I take it apart...not doing as someday I may want to put it back in (rrrrrright).

But, you can remove the whole thing and have a look for yourself. It's a 5-10 minute job .

Sorry.

It took about ten minutes to install it! What an improvement.

I hated that so called cup holder. I now have a place to put my wallet on trips that I can reach.

I saw pictures of the bin that were posted earlier in this thread. Just didn't look over the entire thread before posting.

In fact, I've been looking at a 2006 Special Edition Crossfire that has the bin already installed.

See you guys later today. Drive safe, it's suppose to be windy today across Upstate & Mountains.

I love my bin. I had it in my base coupe and was one of my first mods when I got my SRT6! They are perfect for the ole cell phone~

Yes,,,,, you'll need to follow the instructions on Post #1 of this thread and remove the cup-holder assembly below the console trim. THEN,,,, the Storage Bin should fit right into place.

Guess Im just to big of a Thoreau fan as I march to the beat of a different cupholder...I kinda like it! Its different and thats cool to me, lends itself to the uniqueness of the car. I mainly use my map pocket storage bin/cupholder anyways.

it's a vacuum lock for the gas lid and console lid on Roadster. I think I had push in slightly at the fitting while pulling tube. it's like a swedge lock or chinese finger.

Dealer item. If yours is broken there's a TSB on them and I understand the Dealer will replace gratis. Personally, I like the cup holder 'cause I never use it!

I've tried searching for 1BQ12XDVAA on multiple sites and these seem to be unavailable. Anyone know of a source for this bin?

How long ago did you buy it? I tried both of these: []]Allen Samuels Auto Group - and Mopar Parts - MoparPart.com and neither site has the part number listed anymore.
