I got it about a week ago. Threw the receipt away, but the part # was from this forum and I believe that it was moparparts.com. I wish I could help more, but I never thought I would need the receipt.

One of the previous posts did mention he had to phone and ask Moparparts. I have sent an E-Mail to them to enquire on availability and cost. Maybe they just have a few, which does not warrant listing on the website???
Will advise of results of my request, if I ever get an answer.

The "official" way to remove that pesky cupholder:

Home Made Cupholder Replacement Bin - 06-18-2011 , 12:06 PM

I carefully utilized a screwdriver and some needle noze pliers to virtually rip the entire cup holder mechanism out of the console through the top. Take care not to scratch up the silver trim around the opening. Placing a masking of duct tape around the top of the opening will help a lot with protecting the silver plastic trim during this modification. Grip, pry and twist the parts with the pliers and screwdrivers until they snap and start coming out in pieces. Once you have all the parts and working mechanism removed then the next step is to replace it.
....
This should be a "sticky".

That's how I plan on doing it. Doesn't matter if I break anything, it's all getting trashed anyway.

You could probably use a dremel and cut it out without damaging the surrounding plastic.

I found out that it's not just a matter of ripping the cupholder itself out, you have to remove the shell too. That was a PITA to remove through the console. I got it done and love the storage bin. I'm also going to add a dual cupholder to the inside of the storage bin.

Well I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. My cup holder finally broke. I've been somewhat preparing for this dreaded event. I'm about 99% sure that I've found another make OEM console bin (DIRT CHEAP) that will hopefully slide into the opening that looks just like our high dollar console bin replacement, when doing away with the cup holder. I'll post back the results soon. Squirrel Crusher

Well hurry up!..LOL. I'm in the process of cutting down a Saab Turbo cubby storage to fit mine. Whole 10 bucks off Ebay if it doesn't quite pan out.. lol. Took that brake handle off on a 40 degree day.. you want to talk about a workout. My wife just loves me and my "little projects"...

The ( base) model 1997-98 Saturn S car has a console tool bin almost identical to our high dollar bin replacement. Saturns base car model doesn't have electric windows or electric door locks,so it's got a cheaper console with pocket bin. The base model has two different style console bins. One like ours and the other style has a pocket and coin compination that I don't like. The pocket compination one is two deep to be useful plus the coin slot just takes up useful space. Saturns car pocket bin is 1/8 inch longer than ours. Other wise,It's identical as far as I can tell. If you hand file our console out 1/8 inch toward's the coupes mirror adjustment control, then the Saturn's car bin will fit in like factory apperance. The salvage yards are full of Saturn cars. Just put your fingers inside the bin and pull up hard. No tools necessary to remove. Just make sure it's a base poor man's Saturn car. I paid 50 cents for my like new console bin from Pull-A-Part. (You must remove our console to completely discard the cup holder). Squirrel Crusher

Great find!.. There's a salvage or two down the street from where I work.. Think I'll go down Monday and see can I find one. Don't like the idea of filing on my console ... but since they are giving them away it's worth getting and seeing if some tweaking on it won't work.

Now I find out, after I have purchased two Chrysler ones this year. I could have purchased over a dozen of these ones.

Do you have any pics after you installed it? Does it fit snug?

I actually alread had one in hand from a saab turbo on ebay (I bought it for a single din install on my Miata). It was slice down 4 directions to get it to fit. Not something I would recommend but it was a spare time play project. Mine will need a crow bar to come out.. lol. The Saturn one is reportedly about 1/4" too long and the console was trimmed to accommodate. "Personally" cutting my console is not an option. For 6 bucks I'd have to cut the cubby at the slopped end and contact cement or super glue it back. Which if mine hadn't worked out was my next option over 50 bucks to Chrysler..

Edit: To clarify when I say slopped end.. when "flat" in the console the front edge will slope to the back.

clicking the link above for the saturn storage bin shows a diagram but I am unable to select part #5 and there is no description. Is this where I need to call them?

Does anybody have a picture of this exact one installed with an outline of what exactly had to be modified?

Thanks!
