Since little stickers are now going for $10 each ($13 if yer from Canada, eh) I must not be charging enough!!!
No really, still JUST $10 ($5 for return shipping & $5 for a beer) for this service to my Crossfire friends (NOT customers).

I have had two or three posts zapped recently.
Been there, done that and I don't want the free decal to prove it.

If anyone in Canada needs to have this re soldered please let me know ..And I will help out ... Free off charge you just need to cover shipping cost ...
I guess it will be faster then shipping to tighed1 to US.
I will provide pictures taken with microscope before and after repair ...
tighed1 you are a good men! Thats great that you are helping out everyone !

My car was thowing a Check Engine Light and I followed the directions posted in the DIY and bingo, I am good to go. I have driven over a 1000 miles and have not had the CEL pop again.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Been having the no start, but would fix itself after a couple hours. The dealer said they couldn't fix it until it wouldn't start for them. Over the weekend it wouldn't start period. So I took the laptop out in the garage and followed your directions, and it worked!! Had been avoiding doing anything myself since I'm not good with electronics, but you made it look so easy, and it was. Thanks again, saved me a bunch of money.

Anybody know if tighed1 is still doing the loaner RCM program?!?? I need to get my RCM fixed asap as its my daily driver and I cant solder for the life of me..
I think you should do it yourself. Go to Radio Shack and buy yourself a $20 solder iron, some solder wire and watch a couple of youtube videos on "how to solder circuit boards" like the one here:
How to solder: circuit boards - YouTube
And bingo you can do it.
Also while you are at it, heat up all the rest of the points on the board as that way you can take care of the entire board.
DO NOT overheat each point, just touch it and let it flow and let it go :-) heck that even rhymes :-)
Believe me the whole thing will take you not more than 30 minutes.
Let us know if you need any help.
Good luck!

Here's a thought..
Do you have a hobby shop anywhere near you? One with the scale planes and RC racers? When I was neck deep into this finding someone that could solder would be like finding a nickle in a wishing well.
Print out the picture showing the ones to solder and I bet they could fix you right up for a song and dance if not for free.. Walk in and say hi vrs just a phone call...

I wanted to say thank you to the Crossfire forum and Tighed1! Last summer I had issues with the mystery no start. I'd have it towed to the dealer and it would start right up for them. I realised that the dealer wasn't going to be any help with this problem when I spoke to a gentleman at the dealership who had already invested $3500 to fix this recurring problem with his car. I was so happy when the cooler weather came because my car seemed to like cold weather. Unfortunately, my luck ran out the other week when my car mysteriously stopped at the bottom of an exit ramp and wouldn't restart. I was sure I was going to get hit by another car. After about 10 minutes of panic and numerous start attempts it finally started. I was fortunate to find the Crossfire Forum and learn about the RCM repair. The Mercedes dealership wanted $230 for the part. I contacted tighed1 to see if he was still doing the RCM repair and thankfully he said he was. I have to admit that I was nervous about disassembling my car but it wasn't that difficult. Tighed1 was great, he got the RCM back to me quickly. So far, my Crossfire's been running great. I'm grateful to the forum and Tighed1, without all of you my beloved Crossfire would have been looking for a new home.

I have owned my 05 xfire for just over a year now, had the no start issue a few times over the winter and didn't think twice about it until tonight when I ran into it again. Come here search for starting issues and within an hour I'm out driving again. Thanks for the great walk-through, I plan on modding the horn later this week with your other guide.
As a preventative measure, I took the ten minutes to reflow the relay connection on the board. I could just imagine if I hadn't read this forum and got stuck with a dealership invoice. This forum and its posts have saved me thousands of dollars so far. Really appreciate everyone who takes time to share this knowledge.

A bottle of beer should cover it, not for everyone of course ... just me. Cheers.
