what are you having problems with? For the most part I found it pretty easy to follow the directions. I think the only part I got held up on was getting some of the old pieces out.

Well for starters. I barely knew how to put the actual pipes together. Once I have figured that out, I felt a lot better. But my main problem is also taking out the old pieces. There arent really enough pictures in the PDF to explain. The ONLY problem I have had with this product is its not really stupid proof.

SO I got the DCAI installed. I just bent the previous cooling line (VERY easy and did not damage the line at all) to fit the new air filters and therefore did not have to remove and old parts thus making it tremendously easier. With that being said, my pipes are not cold. Even when driving the car for short periods. Is this because I did a work around and just installed the pipes, or is it supposed to be like that?

Talking Re: NeedsWings DCAI Install

If you are saying that the 3 inch pipes are not cold, this is normal, the engine bay heats up everything under the hood. The pipes may be even up to 100 degrees without concern as the DCAI allows much lower restriction air flow to the motor allowing a denser air charge to the cyclinders, ie better filling and more power. The inlet air is flowing under full throttle conditions thru the tubes over a 100 miles per hour and thus not spending much time gathering heat as the air enters the motor, ie cooler inlet air temps. Since the air is not dwelling in the pipes to pick up heat, the air also does a minimal job at cooling the pipes.

Enjoy the kick in the but performance. I tested the design to see a 25 HP gain over a single inlet BELOW 2500 RPM. Woody

OH YEAH< WEEKEND WEEEEEEEEEEE

so then doing the heat repellent coating is unnecessary?

I had 1/2 foam on mine once and only got minimal changes above sitting in idle with the hood open. Woody Date nite #2.................

Is that number just for the SRT or can one expect similar HP gains in the Base/Limited?

I think that is for the SRT. When I had my N/A's, I saw about a 8-10 HP increase with a single CAI. I'm sure someone with a dual intake on the N/A will chime in.

I would get a gauge that hooks up to the OBD port (UltraGauge makes a decent one for $75 or so) that will give you the read out on the intake temperature. On my UltraGauge, one of the gauges I selected was intake temp. I haven't driven it in extreme warm weather (probably 80 degrees max) yet, but I have ranges from 55 to 120 depending on the outside air temp, how warmed up the car is, and whether or not I'm driving or at idling. I took the car for spin on Saturday when the temp as below 20 outside and my intake temp was at 55 while driving.

Rule of thump on single CAI on N/A :
Intake air temp = ambient air temp + 12-15 degrees while driving at 55.
The faster you drive, the less difference there is, and vice-versa.

( UltraGuage intake air temp and dashboard outside air temp readings )
