Question 2004 coupe...all electrical shutdown

Turned the key and everything shutdown...no lights, no nothing, even the door locks don't work, nor will the radio turn on or the seat move. Had driven 20 minutes before this. Checked the fuses all is good. I think it's in the ignition switch, but can't be sure. Have had a little resistance in the ignition switch, seems to get stuck periodically. Any ideas ??? Vern

First thing be sure battery is good and with good connections at terminals. Ignition switch would not effect some of the items you mentioned.

Check battery voltage to see if holding at 12.5v or better. If not, do not jump start, but remove battery, charge and have it tested.

Thank you, James !! Twasn't the battery but the solenoid the ground hooks up to. Close examination showed it had a lot of corrosion. Cleaned that connection and once reconnected started right up....Thank you again. Sorta blew the potential for it being the battery off right away as it's only 6 mos old. Vern

Vmax,
Could you explain the specific spot you are describing here ?
Our Negative battery cable bolts up to the fender for a grounding point.
Where is the solenoid you have mentioned ??
The reason I ask it because I had a similar issue with an all electrical shutdown but have still never diagnosed the problem and it hasn't reoccurred for quite awhile.
I had posted this thread when my issues occurred:
Intermittent Complete 12V Power Loss / Ideas ?

Thanks, Gary

I think he means the positive cable, follow it to the big 50 amp fuses.

Vern, could you clarify a bit better with what you found. Many of us would like to know what exactly you found so we can look out for the same symptoms and make the repair.

Thanks, James
