Default 2008 Crossfire valve cover leak

I have a 2008 crossfire with less then 2000 miles on. I am the second owner so the lifetime powertrain warranty does not apply. I have a small oil leak from the driver side valve cover and need advice on how to have it repaired. This is apparently a comon problem so is it covered by chrysler? If not, any ideas about the cost to have it repaired?

Lots of feedback on this issue. One of the best threads is the following under Engines, etc.:

Good luck with your leak repair.

I doubt Chysler will cover it.

easy DIY - this is the very first repair I had to do after buying mine .
About $5- $10 and 2 or 3 hours.

get a set of male torx bits. ( get a set of female torx sockets too, if you can find them, if not order from Amazon )
Use the BLACK RTV sealant. ( I used Permatex 'Ultra Black', but there are many other choices )
DO NOT over torque the aluminum screws, just over finger tight.
CLEAN BOTH SIDES thoroughly before applying the sealant.
Let them sit for about an hour before putting them together.

( do the passenger side too, while you are at it )

As stated by alaxfire, there are several RTV products out there that will work. My favorite for this application is a product specifically recommended for use where vibration occurs. The exact name escapes me, but I highlighted it in the thread I referenced.

fh69: I suggest you call Chrysler customer service and talk to one of the reps. My 2008 with 22,000 miles on it at the time had the same problem last year and was 4 months out of warranty. Because my car was well below the milelage warranty, they picked up the cost other than $100. Good luck!
