The key wont turn the door lock do the batteries in the fob have anything to do with it if not why won't it turn?

 

Ive wondered about mine also, my key only fits half way in the door lock. So im worried if the battery in the fob goes dead guess i wont be getting in the car, or if the car battery died.

 

Well my key goes all the way in but won't turn at all and I don't want to break my fob!

 

Surprising, because half the time my fob doesn't link with the car and I have to use the key to open the door and it works just fine. You have really turn it because it's making the air pressure unlock the door. After using mine so much it's not tough at all.

 

The key fob has nothing to do with it. Try spraying some WD-40 or lock oil in it. Probably just froze up a bit from not being used.

 

I am having a similiar issue, My key fob is dead and ive been using my key for awhile and last night i went to lock the door and the key wouldnt turnvery easily, i then could get it to turn but the key would just turn the lock but the door would not actually lock, and i could keeo turning the key if i used enough force. Could this be something with the central lock unit in the trunk or with the lock mechanism itself in the door. I cant lock my car right now and its pretty concerning. Thanks for any input

 

I’ve been researching for days on this subject. My door lock won’t turn with the key...the fob works to unlock and lock but the key hole will not turn either direction. I tried WD40 but still won’t budge. The key works ignition and glove box just fine. Im not sure my next course of action. I only have one one key/fob at the moment so being too aggressive is out of question but will welcome all advice.

 

Do you know that it has worked in the past?

 

I don’t . I just bought her on Jan 9th.. it’s the only thing that hasn’t worked.

 

You can remove the whole door handle assembly easily and see what the problem is. Thread is right hand on drivers door and left hand on the passenger door.
