Project time: About 20 minutes
Tools needed: Metric Socket Set, Oil Filter Wrench, Appropriate container to collect old oil,
Towel.
Supplies needed: 5.5 liters (8.5 quarts) SAE 10W-30 or 5W-30 engine oil, New replacement Oil Filter.

When service is required, DaimlerChrysler Corporation recommends that only Mopar brand parts, lubricants and chemicals be used. Moparprovides the best engineered products for servicing DaimlerChrysler Corporation vehicles.
Only lubricants bearing designations defined by the following organization should be used.
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
American Petroleum Institute (API)
National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI)

API SERVICE GRADE CERTIFIED
Use an engine oil that is API Certified. MOPAR provides engine oils, that meet or exceed this requirement.

SAE VISCOSITY
An SAE viscosity grade is used to specify the viscosity of engine oil. Use only engine oils with multiple viscosities suchas 5W-30 or 10W-30. These are specified with a dual SAE viscosity grade which indicates the cold-to-hot temperature viscosity range. Select an engine oil that is best suited to your particular temperature range and variation.

ENERGY CONSERVING OIL
An Energy Conserving type oil is recommended for gasoline engines. The designation of ENERGY CONSERVING is located on the label of an engine oil container.

According to the owners manual and the sticker near the front of the engine, the recommended oil for the MB 3.2L V-6 is: Mobil 1 0W-40 synthetic oil. Of course you can use whatever grade oil you want. Also, the oil quantity is 8.5 quarts, not 6.1.

For those that may be interested, there is also another method some people prefer to follow when changing oil. They use the Topsider or other pump rather than crawling under the car and removing the plastic shield that covers the bottom of the engine. The pros and cons on this subject have been discussed within this forum before.

For those interested, here is a how to link. The oil change is shown being done on the MB SLK 320. Everything in the article is exactly the same for the Crossfire, including the oil quantity and filter.

For those interested in using the Topsider or another brand of pump, they can be found in most marine supply stores.

my bad on the levels I will change it. I was tired and forgot about the typo in the service manual.

The type of oil is directly from the manual. You should use any type of oil you find appropriate for your local conditions. I personally, would use the Synthetic 10-W40.
Great link to the alternate method. It is easier than crawling under the car.
I kinda like the down and dirty method. Sometimes old school just makes you more connected to the car. Plus you don't have to spend anymore money on the pump.
