Well, I have tried dozens of times now to reset the FSS to no avail. It has the double wrench 730 with the clock. The car which I recently bought, was completely serviced in 2013 at about 42,500 miles ( engine oil and tranny service) It had only been driven less than 3000 miles in the last 6 years. I have very carefully followed the manual and forum procedure repeatedly to no avail, any suggestions

I'm afraid that some of the information floating around on how to reset the FSS is not accurate. Try this:
1. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position.
2. Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second. The display for the FSS service
request is activated for 10 seconds
3. During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed.
4. Press the reset button for the trip odometer and hold.
5. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
6. Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display.
The tool symbol should disappear at this time.
Following the above instructions it reset the FSS for me on the first try.

I actually typed this procedure and then taped a copy over the page/section in the Owner's Manual. That way after performing an oil change, I can refer to this to get the FSS display reset. The original text in the Owner's Manual, if followed, won't reset the FSS display.

This exact procedure has worked for me every time over 12 years
The tool symbol should disappear and the miles til next service interval should reset to 7000
THE MIDAS TOUCH. You guys are amazing. I swear I have followed this exact procedure a hundred times to no avail and now it did reset ( I think) It shows an oil can on one line and a wrench on the other. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Crap like that FSS drives me nuts

Don't think what you're seeing is an oil can. Might be the clock and a single wrench. That tells me the FSS didn't reset. When the FSS resets properly, like onehundred80 stated, 7000 mi (11000 km) should show indicating the next scheduled oil change. The wrench symbol should disappear.

Here's the deal :
That switch that the extended **** closes lives in a vary dirty environment,
and is seldom used. This allows crud to build up to a point that the contacts sometimes make a circuit,
and sometimes don't.
What I do is after an oil change, I work out on that **** by pressing it 50-100 times
to slash through the crud before I try the reset procedure. Usually works.
Well. Here is what I have now. When I reset, it did show 7000 miles---------- If I start the car now, it immediately goes to tripmeter miles and odometer miles. If I turn the key to run, it shows and oil can on tripmeter and a clock on odometer. I tried resetting again and again and again it still shows up the same,-------- straight to mileage if I start------- and oil can and clock, if I just turn key to " on " position. Thanks everybody

Hi, can you please take a picture of each display, and have a brief description AT EACH PICTURE so that it becomes super clear what is showing on the displays when the key is in what position? Thanks.
key in run position --this shows up for just a few seconds after initialing showing mileage ---mileage shows before and after this message normal mileage shows when you open door, turn key on, and after starting could not help myself
here are the pics. The normal ones of mileage only are upon entering car, and engine running. The one with the oil can and clock show for just s few seconds with the key in run position and before starting
I was asked to post some pics of what my FSS shows now, that I reset it, so here goes. The pic with the oil can in the tripmeter and the clock in the odometer shows up about 10 secs after turning ignition to run and lasts about 10 seconds before returning to mileage readings. It does not show up if I go straight to start. When I first reset the FSS, it did show 7000 miles, but since then has gone to the oil can and the clock. I can't find anything on this scenario. Bet someone out there knows shows up only for a few seconds if key left in run position but not having been started Normal view How could you resist this

Why would you open another thread to answer a request in another thread, now the info is split in two posts. You should have put this in the original thread.

The Oil Level & Clock Icons you see are associated with the onboard electronic oil level sensing system in the car. Chances are the oil level sensor has gone bad. If your oil level shows good on the dipstick, don't worry about it. See attached pages out of Owners Manual. Your FSS probably reset properly if you remember seeing the 7000 mileage indication. Electronics on these cars are a PITA!
If you haven't already, go to onehundred80's Crossfire Library thread & download a copy of the Service Manual for these cars. The 2005 version gets you info for the Coupe & Roadster; both NA & SRT-6 models.
