Default Can you help?

I have a 2005 Roadster, the hood strut pooped out and my antenna is worn and cracked. Has anyone had to replace either item? Are they difficult to replace? Where is the best place to purchase? Thanks in advance, Anna

hood strut is not hard to replace ... you can get a new one at NAPA for around $32, NAPA part number 819-8101 ... if you have the 90* hood sleeve you will need to transfer it to the new support

After figuring out that there are slight differences in the hood struts inserts over the years, I have gotten away from buying just a replacement cartridge, and instead buy a complete assembly. I have purchased several of these with good results. Less than 10 minutes to replace.

There is a "simpler" way to replace the rubber antenna gasket. Proceed as if you are going to drop the top and when the tonneau cover opens and before the top starts to drop release the top switch. You will need to prop open the tonneau as after about 10 mins it will lose hydraulic pressure. You will now have access to the antenna through the opening. You can disconnect the antenna and remove the nut holding the antenna base, be careful not to drop the nut. You can then replace the gasket or install a new antenna. I did not get my gasket from the UK; I will look through my XF folder to see if I still have the receipt and let you know. Good luck!
