My dad has a '04 & he recently went to the car wash. Well, the skin to the door was ripped off, all that remains is the arm assembly.

We located a dismantler in MS & they are having a hard time figuring out how to remove the door as apparently the whole "cup" needs to come out with the door assembly.

Can anyone provide some directions on how to remove this whole fuel door & cup from the car?

Also, besides the obvious of not using an automatic carwash anyone have tips on preventing this in the future?

 

Go to E-bay, The door can be removed without the entire assembly. There are two bolts that hold it on.

 

Yeah, we found this diagram for the removal but there are no accessible/visible bolts like the instructions detail.

 

Page 14-28 of the service manual describes prying out the liner covering the bolts. I have never tried it myself but if you go to the dismantler I would try it there first, it appears the slide over the filler tube?
