Headlamps
Hi Everyone,
I just want to bring up the headlight condensation issue one more time.
I, of course, have it.
I've had the TSB done, which changed the "vents" to just a regular plug, sealing the vent opening. That didn't work.
Had the entire assemblies replaced, no help (new assemblies have the plug). Tech may have put the original lamps with their moisture into the new assemblies, who knows.
Anyone out there making any headway with this irritating little problem?

Try this product. It worked wonders for me. I took my car to the dealership and they couldn't fix the condensation problem either. I then decided to try the Meguiars plastic cleaner and my headlights have been crystal clear for 4 months.

Plastic cleaner will only clean the outside of the head light lense. The condensation (water build up) issue occurs on the inside of the lense, this will happen from temp changes and sometimes when you wash your car. My headlights were fixed using the TSB fix but did not work, both headlights were changed under warranty. The new headlights work perfectly and there is no more condensation. If the tech installed new headlights and performed the TSB fix before installation then there is your answer. The TSB does not have to done on the new headlights, because DChrysler has corrected the problem in the headlights at this point.

I get my head lamps replaced on monday and I will keep getting them replaced until they make it out of different plastic. My dealer knows its not condensation and they agree dc needs to fix this problem. Why can't they make it out of glass then we won't have this problem?

As I read these posts it almost seems to me there are two problems going on. 1 is a true condensation issue, the other a film on the outside of the lense cover. Mine was the later and easily corrected with the plastic cleaner. As for the former. I haven't had that problem. I just wonder how many have taken their car in for the wrong issue and dealer's being as they are, are pretty clueless too. The service manager at the dealership I go to is a customer of mine and I told him about the plastic cleaner fix and he hadn't heard about it. He thanked me and told me they had replaced quite a few.

Pat, even "saliva" will temporarily "cleanse the lense" of it's fogging problem on my car. You would think that would tell the Chrysler service managers that the problem is sometimes on the "outside" of the headlight (not that I want them "spitting" on my car to diagnose the problem).
I rue the day I have to take my car to the dealer. They'll probably want to do a front end alignment to correct a burned out tail light.

I had my headlamps replaced last fall. I think that since the tech used the original lamps some moisture was introduced and so I still had a little fogging. But this spring shows no sign of moisture.
Yes, I'm sure it was inside the assembly as I couldn't just spit on it and wipe it away.
