CF:UK Logo?
Folks - I’ve been taking cues from this kind of badge:

Which seem popular.

We could add our UK wording under and keep the R.W.B colours you suggested. It was on FP's Tee shirt and in use on a few other items, it looked great.
This image leaps out at you and speeks volumes about the xfire.
If we get approval.. This would be my final choice...
What do you think!

Hi,
the sheild idea could work. Here’s an idea I came up with after reading a comment here. This one plays on heraldry - using three side flashes as replacements for lions (or the Essex scimitars....
). The three flashes are a striking feature of the car, and they may well tie the logo with the car without being too overworked.
Reading Ken’s comments, we could use a pared down or modified version of the alternative Crossfire logo. I think it may not scale down too well in its current form - the logo will have to work in a variety of places and sizes - and having it display nicely on a web site would be a challenge (the thumbnail in Ken’s post shows that it’s on the brink of survival at that size it is - now imagine it smaller). A silhouette of the car in place of the flashes may be worth considering.
I have lost count the number of times I’ve had to educate clients about their over complex logos not working comfortably on a web site just down to the low resolution of displays not being able to cope can’t be counted. Simplicity is in order here.
Speaking of overworked, I’d better knuckle down to what I’m meant to be doing....

Paul.. You lasted creation works well...if the three flashes were turned around..large end to the left small to the right..would it give more of an impresion of speed and tie in with the three/six on the Xfire more?
I wonder how far we would we have got re badges with out your major imput..I dread to think..
Thanks Paul.

HI,
I can tweak the shield to be more like the Karmann shape. The vent shapes are the direction that they are as it’s natural to read left-right, so your are used to that kind of lateral movement anyway. Standing on the driver’s side of the car, that’s the way they taper too. So they are heading in a natural reading direction.
I’ll knock up a variation or two later on. In the meantime, can we have a final decision on the name/initials for the group? I just picked one at random. Thanks.

Amanda likes this set as well. He initial reaction was very positive. Having come back to them myself after a day, I think that even though the “left to right” version reflects the driver’s side, I feel that the other one appears more balanced.
Hi Paul - thanks for your continued work on this, the shield idea is very smart. What is clear is that you have given a lot of time to developing this theme, and it's great to have a proffesional on the task. I hope others will give some positive input to this, and help move things along. If not, we must have a discussion about it when we meet up next time.
Cheers Steve

Hi All
Michelle has come up with an idea , She lecturers part-time at Coventry Uni with the Graphic Design/Illustration Degree lot (for one of her jobs!), She has asked one particularily bright student if he would think about working on a name, logo & house style free of charge - as this could roll out internationally so getting his name out there as a designer
. We could get him to sign up to this forum & work it that way to put his designs forward - he can get design crits from Michelle and the other design staff as he progresses his ideas. Then we could bring him down to a meet give him a run up & down in a Xfire or two & that could be payment .
Cheers

Hi Paul
Please do not take my last post the wrong way ,your designs have given us alot to think about , But it seems that you/us are not getting alot of feed back one way or the other , so we were just thinking that by using a independent person we could drive this forward , also this allows all members to have there say with no bad feelings ,
As you know you can not please all the people all of the time & as we are only afew members i do think this could be the way to go ,
Cheers

Paul has spent a lot of time and his come up with verious badge /logo design's etc, but there has been no firm agreement on any of them. Its been suggested we discuss further at the next meet, I'm in agreement with this.
With hindsight I'm thinking do we really need a club badge or logo? Or do we just have a name for our UK group, as most others car clubs do....and perhaps had a badge design been agreed upon, the cost to produce in metal and small numbers could have been prohibitive anyway.
Ken.

Ken.
I think having an identity is most important, and it would be good to agree on a name. Personally I was/still am for the xfi uk approach, with membership payment optional, but I'm happy to go with the majority (whatever that is, which actually isn't clear to me).
As for a badge/logo, once we agree on a name I think it would be good to advertise it by means of a decal/badge/logo. Paul's ideas are great (thank you Paul
) but there doesn't seem to be any consensus as yet and I think posting of some other ideas is fine to give everyone plenty of choice. I'd still like to approach Rob @ Likwidart to have a go at producing the badge in 3D once we agree on something. I don't think the cost will be especially prohibitive once the template is made.

Lissfx.. I agree in principle with yours view's. Especially about our thanks to Paul. Hopefully the discussions in Dec will be resolve these's matter's.
The only item we all seem to agree on, is having a general Xfire meet every couple of months, all of them to date I feel have been very successful...good company, locations, xfire banter and beer..what more do we want..( I know a badge etc)
We will get all the glitches sorted eventuality, so keep the faith.

Just an "off the wall" idea, may be daft - but could be an instant solution;
"Karmann Crossfire Club"

These badges are free of cost, plentifull in supply, top quality and very smart. Thinking about Pauls creative ideas, the shield is nice. Ive never seen one used on the back of the car as suggested, and they are small enough not to look over the top. If someone has a spare it could be positioned under rear right light lense using blue tac and take a pic to see what it looks like. The Karmann name then sits nicely with the Crossfire name on the boot lid.
Feel free to shoot me down - just another idea!
