These badges are free of cost, plentifull in supply, top quality and very smart. Thinking about Pauls creative ideas, the shield is nice. Ive never seen one used on the back of the car as suggested, and they are small enough not to look over the top. If someone has a spare it could be positioned under rear right light lense using blue tac and take a pic to see what it looks like. The Karmann name then sits nicely with the Crossfire name on the boot lid.

Feel free to shoot me down - just another idea!
There would be legal problems with using someone else’s logo in this way. We could not rely on any good will from Karmann if we did.

some thoughts, which may or may not be correct as it is based on an interpretation of various posts.

1. As Ken says the thing we generally agree on is to meet up irregularly as and when folk on this group arrange things.

2. There is an international group based in the US that is going to go ahead.

3. Steve's proposal for a UK group associated with the US group was withdrawn.

4. There is an on-going debate about a badge for a UK group.

5. Personally I will be joining the international group. I have just taken delivery of my new brake pads only available from the US and hope that XFI-INT will be obtaining discounts for such items in the future. That is totally personal and I see that as a completely seperate decision to any UK club , but I see an association between a UK club and the US as a potential benefit.

Observation :

Maybe the badge idea is operating in too much of a vacuum. It may be that we need to agree on a UK club first. Maybe we don't, and that a group that meet up irregularly is all that we need to decide on a badge. It is a question really, should we put the badge on the back burner until the UK group forms a clearer identity and continues to form over the next few meets ? I wish I could make the next two, but personal commitments conspire against me ! I would like to contribute to this debate and am concious that words in posts are open to different interpretations so a face-to-face can clear things up.

Also we should not lose Paul ( Hairydalek) or anyone elses contributions so far if we did decide to park it.

Those are my observations and understandings from my screen and keyboard here and don't suggest they are totally accurate and correct as I may have mis-interpreted others posts and statements, feel free to correct me, but my personal views are as they are.

Paul

Hmmm - I’ll put it on the back burner then. I do feel I’ve done a fair lot on this, seemingly for nothing. Ho hum...

To explain my thoughts a little more - I was hoping that this would not start to look like work. I don’t mind rustling something up quickly in my own time, but when it starts to turn into an unfocussed debate and I have to keep going back and forth with new ideas, tweaks, adjustments etc. it starts to get a little frustrating. Some recent comments have been less than helpful .

Other comments have been most supportive - thanks for those, guys .

Paul,
if you have now decided to park this then fair enough, can't blame you if it is getting too much like Work ! I think most people ( maybe all ) are very supportive of what you have done. It would be nice to think that you aren't going to lose any of the ideas for when this restarts as I'm sure you will have a lot to add and there are a lot of good suggestions there.

cheers,

Paul

I am sorry but in regards to the above comment the one thing that I disagree with is having something that looks as if it has been rustled up quickly!

All I am offering to do is to get some more designs on the forum free of charge - the debate can then continue - perhaps the right design may help concrete the debate one way or the other.

I am not being disrespectful of all the work Paul has done but he is not the only designer associated with the forum! So far I have kept quiet but as no-one would come forward and make a decision the idea that some bright, enthusiatic 3rd year student who was up to date with all the current trends and a whizz with the software seemed a relatively harmless idea - basically give him a free reign with the backing of several senior Lecturers who are leading designers in their own field and see what he comes up with.

He has agreed in principle to do this for free- no strings attached - to increase his portfolio, as he is up for several leading Design awards this year in London it is quite flattering that he and the University would let this happen as they have also agreed to sign over any copyright issues to the club. There are several thousand pounds worth of free work here on offer!

Please let me know your thoughts, I am meeting the student tomorrow 13th October and I will need put together a design brief before the end of the week.

Regards
Michelle

Hopefully they don’t look like this.

All in all, the efforts to move forward the idea of a name/badge have so far come to nothing, and its looks unlikely that this will be achieved in the near future. It's a pity, but no matter, we are only a small group, and we dont need to rush into anything if we are not ready.

May I suggested that we now "park" the project until we have had a chance to discuss it at the next meet. We can then take it from there, and we can come back to this project in the future when we are ready. The work done and time invested by Paul can stay on file and will not be wasted.

So lets focuss on the meets and the cars, and enjoying ourselves!

What do you say!

Well, yes. This is why I’m here after all!

I’ll keep the files.

Did I ask you to do anything else?

IS this a boy thing?

Just tried to get some more options on the table!

Not to butt in again, but looking back on the posts of a UK logo, there are 8 posters from the UK. It is getting way to complicated. May I suggest that you 8 who have shown interest in a logo narrow it down to three and vote on it. Majority rules. That way, you can go forward. Your logo does not have to be tied to XFI. As I am a CTC member and I'm also a XFI member.
