Default Front end damage

Colour blind taxi driver went through red lights, I T-boned him in the side....looks like front panel/bumper and headlight only damage to my car.... still pretty annoying !! His passenger was a bit shook up, refused to get back into the taxi , decided to walk and the taxi driver had the cheek to charge him his fare !!!!

cheers Ken,
I'm fine, the bumper did it's job and deformed in the collision, apart from that needing replacing and a cracked headlight, no other damage. I was probably only doing 5-10 MPH when I hit, hardly felt anything. The passenger in the other car banged his head slightly, presumably on the side window and the 10 year old Toyota Avensis came off worse. The whole of the nearside from the front wheel back is dented as he carried on sliding down the front of my car as he came to a stop, suspect that car may even be written off. I just hope the taxi passenger doesn't back down as my witness as he confirmed to me that the taxi driver just went straight through on red ,and help protect my no claims bonus and don't pay the excess..fingers crossed. Car is being collected Friday and should get it back next week, well at least all those stone chips will have dissapeared !!

It's sad to hear of anyone getting in a collision. Happy, though no one was seriously hurt. Were there traffic cameras at this intersection? I understand Great Britain has a very large percentage of supervised areas.

Paul,

Sorry to here that you car is damaged but glad to hear you are OK, It's a real pain getting it sorted out after the event and claiming the excess back so best of luck to you. It's also a good job you weren't a few yards further on or he would have caught your car in the side at speed.

I too recently had an altercation with an old Nissa Micra in Tesco's car park. Having reversed out and turned to line up while still going backwards, the Micra backed out from the line opposite where the rear of my car was and there was an almighty crunch (very loud). Obviously I was sure both cars would be badly damaged.

The rear corner of our car caught the Micra smack in his rear bumper and tailgate, walking towards the Micra his bumper was almost in half and the tailgate a complete write off with a massive dent in it so I feared the worst.

When I turned to look at our car the only damage I could see was that the reflector on the off side had partially popped out. Just on the off chance I applied a little pressure and it popped back in.

We exchanged details and went on our way.

When I got home, on close inspection the paint looked a little scuffed so out came the old rubbing compound and polish and TBH I can no longer see any evidence of the accident.

Just to stop me loosing my NCB I decided that the best course of action was to go 50 / 50 on his repairs (the insurance companies would have done that anyway), he managed to obtain a bumper and tailgate the same colour as his car from a breakers yard and asked he me for £180. Of course I hammered him down to £100.

The point of this entire blurb is that I could not believe that I have no damage or broken brackets while his Micra rear end was a total write off!

Good, strong and flexible cars these Crossfire's!

Alan.

Ps, good luck with your repair.

Took two weeks to repair due to difficulty getting a bracket. Cost the insurance company £1,250 ! That was for a new front"bumper" and replacement brackets as where the wings are attached at the front they had been slightly moved as the gaps either side of the bonnet didn't look right.

Had a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 courtesy car, which to be honest was great as it was during the big snow fall and a really easy car to get around in with it's narrow tyres, front wheel drive and low power engine.

All looks fine now and no stone chips any more !!

Paul
