Default Broken Cat

A horrible rattling noise underneath the car .. and as suspected, broken cat. At least it was just one of the four cats, but at £860 each !!!!! not cheap... good news it is covered by the extended warranty.. ...and relax ....

Hi Paul..I guess only Lissxf can answer your question regarding late entry with the car on the 10th. Money well spent on the Xfire additional cover for the cat!

Cheers

Ken.

I've heard a lot about people having to replace there cats and it's a bit worrying to say the least.
Who do you have your warranty with and if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for it and for how long?
Also what is the mileage on the car?

Norrie.

There are some cats for sale cheap on ebay, and various cars in the breakers yards, but arn't the cats on 5 yr warranty by chrysler? I thought I'd read about this somewhere. Also, some folks have just removed them from the system without affecting the emmisions.

there is a thread about this being under drivetrain warrant, also check in you handbooks too - Dealers try and say its limited to a 3yr 12000 mile limit for cats

Andy, it starts as I begin to rev the engine and is worse if accelerate harder. You can hear the ceramic "bits" rattling. I have heard that the middle cats aren't strictly required and can be bypassed with a modified exhaust, and it did pass the MOT with it not working ! If it was my own money I would be looking around e-bay etc.

Hi
You can buy the CAT by itself for about £50 each , But then you got to find a welder that can do abit of jig work , I still have my old pipes in the garage for next time .

I had the same problem, so I whipped out the centre cats... BEST move I ever made.

Powerflow exhaust is simply amazing!
