Default Drivers Side Headlight

Gawd damnit. I hate having to change the damn things on the passenger side but the drivers side is just ridiculous.

I refuse to take it to the stealers though. No way Pedro. I will win!

Welcome,

Try looking under the technical section of the Forum. You may find your answer under Exterior & Lighting.

I know how to change them. It's just very restricted on the drivers side so just wanted to share my frustrations as it were.

Finished replacing both the bulbs on the drivers side, only to find out that it was a darn fuse problem all along and nothing wrong with the original bulbs.

Thats funny, I spent hours trying this, and then got the shoelace advice and replaced them in about two minutes - you need a degree or a great forum to do this type of job.

Halfords - I wouldnt let them fit my tyre valve caps.
I've had a horrendous experience with them in the past with a BMW M3.

1. Take off the rubber cover covering the rear of the bulb
2. Unclip the wire bulb holder clip at the top, but leaving it on the hinge to hang
3. Get a thin and long shoe lace and tie it to the clip.
4. Secure the shoe lace to the front headlight casing with some gentle sticky tape
5. Unclip the hinge at the bottom of the wire clip, just squeeze it together at the base, the clip will pop off remaining tied to the shoe lace.
6. Pop out the old bulb and replace.
7. Get a small mirror and hold it in front of the rear of the bulb housing and reift the hinge at the bottom.
8. Once the bulb is secure - untie the shoe lace from the retaining clip and pop the top of the retaining clip back in place.

Sounds a little conveluted, but believe me when you do it, it is dead simple and takes less than five minutes and saves loads of work.

Or, to do it in 60 seconds

Remove the rubber cap
Grab a hold of the black connector and pull hard
Once separated from the bulb, move connector out of way.
Study what's left and you'll see how the clip works with a hinge at one end and the other end which is held in place by a piece of metal
Push the clip to one side so it comes from behind the bit holding it in place.
You can then access the bulb and pull it free
Fit new bulb and reverse process.

He means get the instructions, just like being told how to tie your shoe laces.
His answer was to give you the instructions, I guess he thought you did not know how to do it. You wrote the book on it. LOL

Thats the condensed version.
Have a look at the REAL way to do it, if you cannot do it after reading this set of instructions you might as well slit your wrists.
HID's or regular bulbs the words and music still apply.

Download and save the PDF file, print them and read them as you go.
This is the real way to tie your laces up.

Sorry folks - I didnt read the thread right - I thought you had the same trouble as me and couldnt get the connection off the bulb lol thats why I explained this method. Steve is right - easy job, but when you cant remove the connector its a little tougher to get the bulbs out.

OK, thanks guys (all of/both of) you.

I kind of did write the book on it-just never had a problem with losing the clips-though many, many have.

Main problem I had was that I put my new bulbs in upside down on first attempt (which did take more than 10 mins!) which gave me fantastic plane spotting abilities at night!
On second attempt I lost one of the clips inside the headlamp which was fun (that took more than 10 mins to fish out!) Finally after all that practice, the final attempt was much quicker. Now Ive just bought an HID set up, so more practice on the way!
My wife says it's a pity I've nothing else more important to do!

Well, you have the practice time in-so, no problem, right?

My wife doesn't say anything about the time I spend working/tinkering/playing with the car.

She realizes that we live in Alabama where wife-beating is not only legal but encouraged.

Sick attempt at humor. Sorry.
