Thanks for the replys they quoted me over the phone £65.00 , they also do a Castrol Edge 0w - 40w , would the 5w - 40w be a better choice as the engine has done 74,000 miles
i would think either would be ok to be honest...£65 seems very cheap our cars take 8.5 quarts which = 9.6 litres, halfords have on their website 4 litres of castrol edge @ £32.79 so two of these + another 1.5 litres + filter = more than £65....interesting to see if they honour that price when you turn up...(if my calculations are correct).....

isn't 8.5 US Quarts about 8litres? Last time I got some Mobil one for mine I got it in Asda as it was on offer (last year) for about 34 quid I think, can't see the point using something other than recommended
as long as it conforms to MB specs 229.3 or 229.5 what does it matter what make it is..all information gained from the search section of the forum...
MB 229.5 - Multigrade engine oils (Specification 229.5) - Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids
yes muskrat your right 8.5 us quarts is about 8 litres still a cheap oilchange at £65..although why they would use american fluid measurements in a european built engine that is also used in the slk320 that was around long before the crossfire seems strange...
