Default Tonneau cover flaps

Hi, I have posted this in the roadster section but have had no replies so hopefully one of you guys can help.
I have just gone to put the top down for the second time this year and both flaps which extend out of the tonneau cover have failed to open.I am guessing they have seized up over winter. My question is are they just cable operated (which i guess they are from what i can see) or is there some hydraulics or sensors involved.I just think it is strange that both have gone the same time. Many thanks...

YES, cable operated, not hydraulic

Yes the cables have been known to kink, they are quite easy to repair and cheap to replace. We have had a few members who have had this problem, but managed to sort it

Shedman,
I'm happy to help install.. There are other routes to fix flap problem, without paying over the odds Merc prices for an original cable.

If help needed, PM me.

I have just bought two cables at £60 each from course and beacham. It dosn't seem too difficult to fit but if i get stuck i will be in touch.
From what i can see the convertable top end has a circlip to release the pin,but at the moment i cannot work out if the the flap needs to come off to get the other end out.I am sure once i get started it will all make sense.....Thanks Paul....

Chris
I found when fixing my flap cable, it was the inner cable snaging on the outer that was causing the problem. it was easier to remove the whole cable, cut the inner cable free and reuse the outer..purchase a length of inner cable refit in outer and solder two correct size nipples, and refit..a couple of pounds, not sixty!

If you can't solder, use adjustable nipples with screw ends..

Hey guys ... check out eBAY item #300599083720. Crossfire Flipper Door Cable.
They have a buy it now for $39.99, but will accept an offer (try $20.00). Free shipping to the States, but I don't know about England. Just sayin ....

Ken , i originally looked into getting some bicycle inner gear cables with the barrel nipples on one end which would have worked fine and like you said would have cost only a couple of pounds but as it was ,one of the cables was stuck solid and could not be pulled out from either end, hence why i have gone for the oem.
