Exhaust smoke on tick over
My car has covered 74500 miles . I had just driven about 15 mins on the motorway and as i parked up i saw exhaust smoke in the rear view mirror , i left the engine running and walked round the back and could see light blue smoke coming from the exhaust , it was'nt belching dark blue or smelt of bur'nt oil . Is this normal to see the exhaust fumes out of the exhaust. Oil level is ok and it drives ok temperature is ok as well. Just a bit worried about something expensive happening !!!
There are 2 things that commonly cause blue smoke from the tail pipe :
1. worn valve guides/seals.
2. worn piston rings.
I would not think that under normal circumstances a W112 engine with 75K miles would smoke at all .....
Take it to a qualified mechanic for an opinion.

A few other items spring to mind - overfill of oil - blocked breather

Blocked breather pipe may be a red herring was thinking non Mercedes engines as they have this complex emission system with air pump, talk to the Crewe people next week
When I posted re breather pipe I was thinking generally not mercedes; the merc engine in a crossfire has a complex emissions system which includes the air pump which you rarely find elsewhere. It could be something as simple as worn stem seals but that would mean a top end strip - you need a professional diagnosis
