Yea, we won't let you fail when you want to modify, fix, or beautify .... and sooner or later, you will be doing SOMETHING to that car!

Heading out the door now to pick up the car , dead excited.
But i have a couple of queries.
Which fuel do i put in the xfire Regular or super unleaded? I will use shell or bp when i know which one of these it is.
Do these cars have a timing belt or timing chain , And at what intervals do i change them at?

The fuel costs are going to be a bit of a shock coming from a Peugeot 107 as is the road tax .Going from £20 to 270 road tax. But on the plus side the insurance was reasonable (£240).

Cheers Paul

Overall very happy with my xfire i will be writing a more in depth piece on my experience as a new owner with pics when i have sorted out an engine issue with the dealer.
I noticed a burning smell the other day so decided to lift the bonnet and have a look.
To my horror as a new owner there was smoke coming from the drivers side , similar but not quite as much as a kettle boiling.
It appeared to becoming from the manifold drivers side, i noticed a wet patch on the manifold heat shield which appeared to be the cause of the smoke.
I am hoping it is not a head gasket , but i have no idea what it could be.
My saving grace is with the deal on the car , i received a 30 day engine and gearbox warranty.
Bit disappointed at the moment as i have only had the car for 3 days.

Highly unlikely to be a head gasket!!! could be as simple as an oil spilage on the manifold.

Almost certainly valve cover leak, these engines are very strong!

Thanks for the advice it appears to be the seals on top of the rocker covers.(happy days)
The garage is doing this repair as i have one months engine and gearbox warranty.
Going by the information on this forum, these cars seem to be pretty much bullet proof?
One of the many things i like about this car is the lovely smooth (Silky) power delivery, unlike the wrx impreza , which kicked me in the backside every time i touched the pedal.

99.99% probability is the smoke is coming form a leaking seal on the evaporation chamber, which sits on top of the Valve cover.

It is a silcon (paste) gasket and a common failure point on these engines.

It is NOT serious and can be replaced in about 30 minutes per side (+24 hours for the sealant to cure).

If it's not too late I would warn whoever is doing the repairs that the small aluminium torx bolts WILL snap if any pressure is put on them - and worth checking that they are intact on return.

Check the heated seats too!

Enjoy the Xfire... I love mine!

easy to do if you can get the dammed cover off in the first place - i gave up and got garage to do it.
