The Saturday event starts in Laon when drivers sign on and collect their Rally Plate, route book and map book, and start in number order. Due to large number of cars there may be different scenic drive routes, but last year we stuck together irregardless to avoid being split up. There is a lunch stop en route and the villagers come out in force to welcome us and wave as we pass through tooting our horns and waving back! The route is quite long and takes through some nice parts of rural France well away from the tourist routes.
The Sunday procession again Starts In Laon and follows a closed street circuit. Some congestion is to be expected at first but soon goes as the vintage cars leave the circuit allowing some fun as we drive around and through the town. The rules say No Racing - No Speeding and care is needed due to close proximity of many thousands of spectators, so a sensible approach is needed especially on the corners and narrow streets!
Rather than follow the motorway back to Calais on Monday we expect to again take a leisurely scenic route stopping off for coffee and a bite along the way to catch a teatime boat. Please add any questions in this thread and those that went last time can respond. This a great weekend not to be missed, and I can inderstand why so many British cars do this event year on year.

Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
Steve Walsh + one Crossfire details to follow when Ive got another! (staying in Dover night before at Premier Inn 16th May)
Just realised - there could be 6 SRT's on this trip - is there enough petrol in France to keep them all going!

Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
Hi here's a bit of an update. I tried to call the organisers this morning but there was no answer so I sent them a message. Here is the reply.
Hi Darren,
Thank for the enquiry. Currently the hotel is full and we do not have
three rooms available. However, we will ask some of the other clubs that
are holding rooms if they have a room that is not required.
We do have space in the Etap hotel which is next door to the Ibis. This
is a modern hotel but there is no restaurant or bar so people tend to
walk next door to use the bar in the Ibis. A triumph club has expressed
an interest in this hotel but has not yet booked.
With regards
Holly

Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
The 6 rooms reserved for us have already gone but Im working on getting more. If it has to be, at least its only next door so eating and drinking can still be at Ibis all together, its nothing to do with cars - its numbers, watch this space

Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
Sit tight Dal - I will update on Monday as I'm working on us all being together. Apparently the Triumph Owners Club are trying to monopolise room allocations all over Laon due to their vast numbers (being so common lol) and we are getting these released. This was the cause of the initial squeeze as the hotels nearest the event fill first. Will post again Monday
Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
Hi all, i would'nt miss this for the world, its a fantastic venue, and the french really made us feel welcome, if you've never been to this type of event this is the one to do, with fantastic roads , great food, the odd glass of vino and of course every manner of car you can think of, but most of all the Crossfire crew, and to drive down in our cars with them in convoy is a joy, and no speeding eh boys?

Cheers for that Mo, its only 2 weeks away now, but if is cancelled or either of us do not make it to the Pod then a meet up would be good.
