Default Touring Must Haves?

I have a couple of trips planned next year, One in France with you lot and one to the Black Forrest and I was wondering what is required (by law) to travel in Europe.

My car still has the original Pump etc as well as the Triangle but the First Aid kit is long gone.

TIA

Yes a few bits needed to stay legal:

Warning Triangle
Flourescent vests for you and passenger
Headlamp Beam Deflectors
First Aid Kit
Breathaliyser Kit (Ł6 from garages at Dover or buy on Ferry)
Spare Bulbs Kit

Advise Halfords tyre inflator can as extra backup and puncure repair kit.

Thanks Steve,

I've got a couple of cans of Tyre inflator in the garage so I'll stick those in the kit.

If your tyres are in good nick, try to avoid tyre. Inflator, most tyre places cannot mend the trye, so you have to have a new one, bit more pricey, another must have is breakdown cover, that will get you back to the uk , see you in france!

beam-deflectors seems to be a bit of a grey area - it would appear that due to the rise of HiDs it's falling into disuse..... that being said don't use them at your risk

I don't use them, never have, go accross to France at least once a month never had a problem

HiVis + First Aid Kit must be in the passenger cabin not the boot

Documentation you must take,

Passport (obviously)
Driving licence (both card and paper)
Certificate of Insurance, MOT, V5 (must be originals, not copies)
Credit card pref Mastercard as many petrol stations mainly off motorways are going to card only service and many do not except UK Visa, some don't except UK debit cards. None except those top up before you go card things what ever they are called.
CASH, if you intend to break the speed limits and you get caught it's on the spot fine and it has to be cash, in some cases they will take your car if you can not pay the fine. speeding fines start at 90euro's and got up 750euro's, so don't get caught
