Factory fitted immobilizer
Factory fitted immobilizer
Hi all,
I've bought my 07 SRT out of mothballs to return to the UK roads as I'm now back in the UK myself.
I'm being asked by prospective insurance companies if the car is fitted with an immobiliser, is it factory fitted and can I provide proof !
What's happened that I've missed, are SRTs now TWOC magnets ?
Can anyone point me in the direction of an official looking document that details the immobiliser, thanks John

Re: Factory fitted immobiliser
I there im quite sure from around 1994 all UK cars are fitted with immobelisers by the manufacturer, insurance companies should know this
you only have to prove an additional one like thatcham etc.
im 99% convinced thats correct but im sure someone else will be along to correct me if not lol

Re: Factory fitted immobiliser
According to the original brochures, all Crossfires were factory-fitted with Thatcham category 1 alarm and 'Sentry Key' immobiliser. It's just one of those 'tick the box' questions insurance company employees have to ask - presumably just in case you have one of those unusual vehicles not so fitted - or in case it's been altered from original spec. by a previous owner - folks can do funny things to their cars...
But if it was fitted from new, you shouldn't have to provide proof (how can you?!).
All they have to do is look at the original specs and ask you to state as part of your truthful declaration that it's not been altered - same as you would for any other potential mods.
