Default Electric adjustable seats...Problem?

Hi all.

Does the xfire have some sort of safety device preventing adjustment of the seats. Mine seem to be intermittent ie when I first start the car I'm unable to adjust the seats. If I try again sometime later (say 10 minutes) they will work fine. Another day I'm able to adjust them soon after I start the car and have no problems.

Thought I'd better look into this as non working electric seats are now an MOT failure and mine is coming up in July.

Any info or suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,

Pete.

Hi Pete,

Not had first hand experience of your problem, might be something as simple as a loose conection

Are you sure electricaly adjusted seats are part of an MOT? I have had 3 of my cars MOT'd in the last few weeks, all with electric seats and none were checked!!

sorry can't be of more help.

Mo

Hi Mo and thanks for your reply.

It's an odd one. they work some days and not others. I'll check what I can get at for loose connections.

I'm pretty sure I read on the net recently that working electric seats are now a requirement for an MOT pass. Might be wrong but I think it's a fairly new reg.

Cheers,

Pete.

electric seats are a grey area on the current MOT , the requirement is safety and mountings/fixings of the seat , and the seats adjusts and locks in positon both forward and rear adjustment and seat back/rake adjustment , so technically a seat that does not move either manually or by motor adjustment would be a failure.
