haven't noticed my cooling fan kicking in during the warmer weather sitting with engine running in traffic gauge creeps to fraction over 1/2 way on scale i.e. just over midway anyone out there shed any light on where fan is likely to kick in please?

Does the engine cooling fan run when you have the A/C turned on ??
The fan will run at low spreed with the A/C on no matter what the outside temp is
That's how I periodically check mine to see that it is operating and the relay is working.
Also if the gauge creeps a bit above half way that is normal but by then I think your fan should be on.

Up until today I have never heard my fan run unless I had the AC on. The gauge said 118F (47.8C) and the AC was cranked all the way up and that puppy was ROARING! Temp gauge never went higher than just above the halfway mark however.

Thanks for info checked fan works when a/c is on - yes, but so fan quiet which is maybe why I didn't think it was on (on drive with bonnet/hood open can see it run but barely hear) no wonder in traffic couldn't hear
