Default What was your first car?

Interesting to find out which cars we owned first. Type, Model, Year and colour and any else you can remember.

I had a Triumph 1300 front wheel drive. Dolphin grey. D reg 1966. Four door with wood dash and door capings . Red leather seat. £ 275.00.

My 1st car was a '69 Camaro Z28. I got it in 1971 used of course. That same car today in good shape could bring as much as 100k at auction. Maybe more. Poor car got the crap ran out of it. Just a kid with a race car.

1961 Ford Falcon, white. A hand-me-down from my cousin. I upgraded a year later to a 1972 Ford Gran Torino, green, before handing that down to my sister upon deployment in 1980. Of course, in those days a Ford lasted forever!

was about 1968...Ford 100e van about 1958 or thereabouts with a triumph herald engine with twin carbs, cant remember what i paid but it would have been cheap...went like stink or seemed to at the time only problem was it had vacuum wipers, the faster you went the slower the wipers went, not good in a rainstorm....

Mine was a 1975 white Reliant Robin van which I slightly customised with a little airbrushing, wide Wolfrace slot mags and deep button dralon interior with tear drop side windows.
It was the in thing to do at the time I did only have a bike license at the time too.

When i got home from Nam in the spring of 68', i wanted a vette roadster. i determined i couln't afford one, so i found a very nice 1967 Mercury Cougar with the "big" 390 Ford V8, 4 speed, and a pretty decent rear end.. the car was a "demo" for the owner of a Mercury dealership, in the suburbs of Buffalo,New York. Fun car while she lasted... very dark green with tan interior.

One of these but the lwb twin wheel version with the 2.3 litre petrol engine, very grunty but massively under geared with a maximum cruising speed of around 55mph, I went all over the UK with my racing motorbike in the back but long journey's took a forever at those speeds!!

Trundling along with those sliding doors open was fantastic in the summer though, I had the back boarded out and carpeted and when we finally got to a race meeting it became home for the weekend too

First car that I drove was a 1969 Chevy Impala 2 door. Red with a white vinyl roof. 350/4bbl carb & 3 speed auto. It would fit eight in the front and ten in the trunk!

The first car that I owned as an '87 Camaro. Just a 2.8L V6 and a 5-speed, but it was a chick magnet at the time.

My first was a '57 Chevy 4 door 283 2 bbl 3 speed on the column.
Paid $200 cash for it in 1964, I was 20 at the time. ( sorry, no pictures )
Up until then, I only rode Triumph motorcycles .......

I remember my father owned a Hillman Minx estate. Same engine as yours. We towed our caravan down to Cornwall and on the way back the engine gave up. Rebore, regrind and new pistons. The good old days

A 64 Mercury Monterey Marauder. Got it in 71 for $200. Big ol TANK. I think it got 9 mpg, but gas was 29 cents a gallon then.

Still can't seem to post a pic on this forum.

My 1st car was a Rochdale Ford Special a fiberglass sports car with a wooden floor built on the chassis and components from a 1950 Ford Popular model E93A side valve with 3 gears and rod pull brakes registration number GUM 1. It had an Aquaplane Cylinder Head and Inlet manifold with twin downdraft Zeniths and four branch exhaust manifold, and did around 60mph. This was one of the first kit cars. Bought for £10 from a scrap dealer in 1970, ran it for a year before swapping it for a rusty mini cooper 998cc
